Not really. Once you click Buy you get to see the price (which is like $94 in this case) but you don't need to actually buy it. I don't understand why they don't just put the freakin price on the camera list in the first place...it's an uncessary annoyance to have to open a second page just to see the price.

Click buy? I dunno about that but it seems like if you go to the store, it'll be cheaper. Just call them up.

It's just another tactic to get you to the store. Just like sales.

Its a requirement of the manufacturer likely. They don't let you 'advertise' a price lower than $xxx. However you can sell it for less than that. In order for them to let you know the price without breaking the rules they have to make you click buy. That way they are not advertising it, they are telling you how much it is before you buy it. Very technical and hair splitting, yes. Its just a way some manufacturers keep their perceived value high (ie Oakley) and to keep the market price pretty even.

Conclusion: it is FALSE advertisement, maybe they should get their asses sue for false advertisement

Great conclusion Sherlock. Calm down, they would actually have to advertise a price and then sell it at a higher price to be false advertising. Maybe you should spend a bunch of money to hire a lawyer to sue them - let us know how it works out :)

it is false, they make you think it is less than $99 but they are selling it for $699 big-ones.
Me, I am a college kid so you know I can't afford to hire a lawyer.

And a good car dealer will let you walk out "thinking" you got a good deal.

Where on the page/desc does it say $99??? Nowhere!

If you think they bait and switched you, then look up the bait and switch laws.
If you can read them, and bestbuy commited a foul, then file a complaint. If the
FTC people can actually understand you, then they will take appropriate measures.

Where do they say it's less than $99? I see that they say it is less than $899 and last time I checked 699 is less than 899. Unless you know of some new math that I'm missing out on, there is no false advertisement.

Your school must be very proud :)

under the camera, they have $99 with a line running through it. (so that makes you think it is less than $99).

riznick: it is only bait because by doing the above, they lure you with an unbeatable deal. Their is no switching invlove since their is no sales person online.

Hmm, on Monday when I clicked Buy it *did* indeed show a lower price, by like $4 or $6...I don't remember exactly. :(

ummm...it's $899 with a line through it, not $099...I see how it's a little confusing, but $099 is a weird way to list a price, don't you think?
