Would the apache be more bada$$ if it had retractable landing gear?

No... I would hate to make a forced landing after taking a hit and the hydralics failed rendering your landing gear inoperable...

That's right, I hate ungraceful exit.

But that's when you hover a foot over the ground, exit vehicle and drop a brick on the throttle, so you can watch it fly off into wild blue yonder.

ps. yes I know the throttle is hand controlled.

I bet the areodynamics (the drag) is a bitch to handle in rrough winds with those things hanging down there.

In addition, think about planes. they distribute the force of the impact over a prolonged period of time.

If a helicopter jsut falls out of the sky or is going slower, so the impact comes in a shorter stronger burst.

Unless some poor fool noes dives his plane into the ground😉

Something tells me you're not an aviator; neither am I and that's probably why I liked your answer 🙂
