I have never played over the internet and my buddies and I can not seem to get together for LAN parties like we used to. I need help setting up to play over the internet.
Do I go to : Multiplayer - Start new multiplayer Game - Then under Start network game click on server, then name the server, then select type of game play then start the game? Then how does my friend find the game in the 4,000 servers listed? ALso do I need to register the game for this to work? Can I set a password so only he can join?

Help?

go into the game and find servers, then go to the help chatroom, and ask away there, the guy is like a guru and will tell you anything
 
When starting the new mulitiplayer game, if you check the "advertise server" box it will list your server on the internet (and so it will show up in the big list). I would recommend against that unless you want random people on your server. What's better is to leave it unchecked so the server is not visible. Your friends can still join if you tell them your IP address. All they have to do is right-click in the server list and choose "Open location" and put in your IP. You could leave the advertise server option enabled and then set a password that only your friends know, but I prefer the unlisted server method.
 
Heisenberg - Thanks for the help. I'm going to give it a try tomorrow. Do I need to register my serial number for any reason?
