Would Samsung Repair care about a Rom? (Non Warranty Repair)

My earpiece won't work for some reason so I was going to go to a repair center to get it fixed.

Would a non-warranty repair place really care if i have a ROM on there, or do I need to ODIN it back to full stock.

Also, has anyone else had this issue where their earpiece just doesn't work? I need to put it on speakerphone to be able to take calls. I've tried out different roms on it to see if that fixed it to no avail. The ODIN flash is a last resort I haven't tried yet.

if you're paying for the repair I doubt they would care. they might flash it back to stock as part of the repair/testing process though.

definitely try flashing to stock yourself to see if it fixes the issue before resorting to the repair though

Nandroid backup your current rom, flash to stock, reset counter, give to repair center. When you get it back, restore the nandroid after flashing Custom Recovery

This.

Just remember to Nandroid to the SDcard and remove it before sending it in. :D

lol what would happen if you left your folder of custom kernels, roms, Nandroid backups but your phone appeared to be stock with the flash counter at 0? ;)

And bam, Odin flash did nothing. Got a repair ticket

Apparently sending the phone in to get it repaired out of warranty would cost 85 bucks just for the earpiece, which is insane because I'm pretty sure its like a 6 dollar part. And considering that replacing the screen would cost about 180 bucks, which is a MUCH more expensive part.

Its sucks that I have to lose my phone for a week, that could have repercussions

You could've repaired it yourself, Galaxy devices are fairly easy to take apart, and the earpiece has a ribbon cable connecting to the mainboard, so that's completely user replaceable.

Eh, normally I'm fine with doing those repairs, did a fair number on other phones. But its under warranty so why the hell not let the official place do it.

Also I thought i read somewhere that the cables were glued down in the GS3. Which was also why i was hesitant to open it up.

If you're paying $85.00, its definitely not under warranty...

I'm not... I just happened to ask what the price out of warranty was. I thought it was insanely high and was relieved that the person said it was covered under the manufacturer warranty.
