Would Michael Jackson have been as popular if he couldn't dance?

If Michael Jackson didn't have the dance moves that we all know him for, that he just used his voice to make music as that was his only talent, would he have been as popular as he was? Is his music good enough by itself to sell itself to the point of at least multiplatinum? It just seems that if you listen to his music and only his music with his videos sight unseen, while it's got a good beat, his music just doesn't seem to stand above the rest, that what made him into a super star was his musical talent AND dance moves, combined into one.

What do you guys think?

No, I dont think so. Then again, would Elivs be so popular if he wasn't handsome in his youth and doing his pelvic thrust thing.

A great artist knows how to win the crowd, not just stand next to a mic and sing.

Any idiot can learn to dance, not any idiot can learn to sing like Michael Jackson could.

And I understand he might have had some kind of song-writing ability...

Yeah, there's that too.

Nope, and he also wouldn't have been as popular if he couldn't sing. Thing is, he could do both, and that made him great.

don't forget his writing and composing skills. he was seriously talented.

He might not have had any natural dance talent, who knows? He trained for hours a day, from a VERY young age. He had many talents and he worked hard at what he did.

obviously not as popular, but he'd still be damn popular. To say he would be just as popular would be saying his dancing did nothing for his career, which is quite obviously false.
btw.. failthread
