Would Keith Olbermann still be as popular if he had dissenting viewpoints on his show?

NFS4

No Lifer
I admit, I watch Olbermann's show whenever I get the chance, but I sometimes get bored of the same liberal talking points and his lack of objectivity. And I also don't like the fact that no one calls him on his bullshit sometimes.

At least with Hannity and O'Reilly, they have opposing viewpoints on their shows -- even if they do get cut off or overtalked to death in verbal diarrhea. But Olbermann; he just goes unopposed and surrounds himself with guests that parrot everything he says -- where's the fun in that?

Not only that, but he asks so many leading questions that 99% of the time, his guests will just bow down and agree with whatever he says.

So what do you think? Would his show tank in the ratings with opposing viewpoints, or would the extra "noise" added in with some "friction" actually be a boost for him?

I see Maddow taking over his time slot.

She's more objective, less over-the-top.

And sorta cute 😉

Define "popular". His ratings are terrible. I mean, the guy gets fewer viewers than Nancy Grace, for pete's sake.

What I like about Obermann is that he (or his staff) research things pretty throughly-more often than not during the campaign he presented either a new instance or a new analysis that is not present on the other shows.

His guests are a decent mix-I absolutely detest the shouting matches that the roundtables on other shows become. They generally agree with him, but nearly always add something to the mix.

Things I hate about Obermann-his enormous ego and his obsession with Bill O'Reilly and ratings.

I used to really like Olbermann, but I think his show kind of devolved into something less intellectual and more divisive. Pretty much think he's become a hack now.

He's the right wing in the mirror and I love him for it. He has the nuts to be as big of an asshole as Republicans are.

Except, the right wing shows like O'Reily and Hannity actually bring on guest with opposing view points.

How about Rush?

If I were an Multi-Billionaire Media Mogul, I'd Fire them all then buyout anyone else who tried to Hire them, then Fire them all again! Waste of Airtime, waste of My time, waste of Your time.

That said, I've watched some of his stuff that's been linked over the years and have found that he often expresses what has concerned and exasperated me. His and the shows based on the same format are not there to inform though, they exist to give the Viewers an Opinion. Make your own Opinion based on Facts, not on someone elses Rants.

He's called out neocons on there BS while people on fox news not only defend them but praise them for what they do.

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.

At least with Hannity and O'Reilly,
To suggest those two are even close to Olbermann in objectivity, you have to be trolling.

Nice try.

🙂
