Would it work to connect a second fan to my heatsink?

Would it cool down my cpu if I added a second fan? Or would it do more harm than good?

I tried that once with my HS and the temps actually went up. I also noticed that the RPMs of the fan that was flushed with the HS actually went down. My theroy is that the fans are not in synch and turbulence from the first fan affects the second fan. I would just get a better flowing fan. Actually if you can place two fans side by side (like my configuration) you will actually get lower temps. In my case the max temp of the CPU came down 7ºC. :D

You will increase the air pressure and possibly turbulence. It works for some conditions and not for others. When I first started overclocking Birds, I ran a 80mm fandapter made from a 24 oz. Bud can on the cheap CoolerMaster HS that came with my CPU. A second fan dropped my temps 3C. Two 26 CFM fans on the FOP-32 I use on my bench don't do a thing.

One more thought. This would work better if the two fans spun in opposite directions. Unfortunately the way small fans are made, the blades are not optimized for running with the leads reversed.
