Intel Core i7 4500U 1.80Ghz
GeForce GT 740M 2GB
8GB RAM

It would run, in the sense that you shouldn't have any compatibility issues... but performance is going to be terrible. That's a laptop designed to be thin and have a long battery life, not play games especially quickly.

Concur with NTMBK. That laptop would basically be the equivalent of a gimped i3 and a hamstrung geforce 650. It's nice for very light gaming (i.e. older games and indie titles) but not for those two. Arma 3 would be a hot mess and BF4 multiplayer would be even worse. You might be able to get a functional BF4 single player experience through it on low settings.

Is a desktop out of the picture? Getting a "gaming" laptop capable of running BF4 and Arma III nicely is going to set you back > $1200, most likely. For which you could build a decent gaming desktop + buy a general purpose laptop.

All those models you listed are decidedly low end for gaming and would not give you acceptable performance in newer games.

Option 2 is your best choice out of those three. You would be able to run bf4 on medium settings at 720p or 1366x768 at around 40fps average in multiplayer. And that would only be when you had it plugged in and set to high performance. If that sounds good to you and you have experience playing at that performance level and this is 100% what you want then go for it. Personally it sounds like a recipe to die repeatedly and throw the computer against the wall.

I know you keep linking laptops, is there a particular reason you want a laptop? As was mentioned earlier for the cost of option two you could build a nice gaming desktop and get 60fps at high settings constantly and buy a general purpose laptop to carry around that also will not a 8lbs brick you have to lug around.

I take that back, looks like option two has the 750m DDR3 model, good luck playing anything on that, we are talking mid 20fps.

If you can link the specific one you were looking at so we can double check.
