Would it matter? 2x6-pin vs. 1x6-pin splitter --> video card

My GPU (Radeon 6870 1GB) requires two 2-pin power adapters. I have the option of 2x6-pin plugs from the PSU or 1x6-pin splitter --> 2-pin to power the GPU.

To me, I'd imagine that it's more consistent to use two 6-pin plugs versus the splitter. The only disadvantage I see is additional clutter. (The 6-pin splitter has less cable to it, so it's cleaner.)

Does this sound right to you all?

You have two 6-pin connectors, use them. That's what they're for.

I think the 6 pin connectors have a 75W limit, plus some (not all) PSUs may have OCP on that cable depending on topology, so potentially you run the risk of hitting OCP (over current protection, PSU shuts off) or the first connector can get hot.

In practice I don't recall ever seeing anyone have a problem when using an adapter as long as they didn't cascade them (hook one adapter to another adapter, to another, etc.).

I ran a Q6600 @ 3.6, and two GTX460 1GB OC cards, clocked from 715 (stock) to 820-840 (my OC), all on a single Antec EarthWatts 650W (Delta) PSU, using a pair of PCI-E power splitters, so that I could turn the 6-pin and 6+2-pin into four 6-pin connectors.

All doing Folding@home 24/7 for the entire month.
