Would it be possible to file suit on behalf of the earth?

Paper bags are biodegradable.

The earth loves em. It's just YOU that thinks they're ugly.

People are biodegradeable too. You just have to kill them first.

Not if they are buried in an airtight box and vault in the ground.

I hate to ruin what you may believe as told by someone selling a coffin with those features (at an extra premium, of course), so I won't point out all those bacteria in your intestines, ready to rot you from the inside out. (Ever see a bloated animal on the side of the road?) Oh, and the pressure is going to build up in that airtight box as you decompose, most likely, rupturing whatever "airtight" protection you have.

To the OP: I'm with you... I hate people who litter. Something I've always dreamed of doing: getting a pick-up truck load of cigarette butts, getting a photo of someone throwing a cigarette butt out their window, then later filling their vehicle with cigarette butts, and placing that picture on their windshield with a note: "I think you dropped one of these; not sure which is yours, but figured you didn't mean to throw it out the window."

What do you mean by 'entity'? That it is sentient? Self-aware? Because it isn't.

Can you prove that?
...Yes. Something must be living to be self aware or sentient. The constituents of the inner Earth have been discovered a long time ago, and those materials are not able to form organic materials. In the core of the Earth, for example, a large amount of iron and nickel is found... which by themselves cannot form organic compounds required for life.

Furthermore, I believe the burden of proof would be on the plaintiff to prove sentience which would be a challenge by modern accepted scientific standards.

But your honor the earth rotates moves, blows off steam and look at this dirt ... it ... uh .... it is like our skin!

You could try. Also try to summon the Sun and some bigger planets like Jupiter and Saturn to the court just to be sure. If you happen to be lucky, you may even be able to convince a black hole and a bigger gas cloud as well.

Look up the exhumation of Medgar Evers.

At any rate, I have no intention of being buried in a casket or a graveyard.

So you would want to pay a lawyer thousands of dollars to take on this case when you get nothing out of it, when (if it made you so mad) you could have stopped and picked up the bag for no cost at all?

If you saw a bully beating up a little kid, you'd probably just waive your fist at him and cuss then post on ATOT instead of helping the kid, huh?

America: where every action is questioned with a lawsuit!

The earth is not an entity. And as much as it would be great to kick the ****** out of the person for throwing the McD's bag out the window, this is just stupid.

The earth has something called natural selection and survival of the fittest. It don't need laws. It simply wipes idiots off the planet.
