Would it be cheaper for cities to round up homeless people and bus them away?

If the city gathered up its homeless placed them on a train or bus with a day or two worth of food and water, and sent them on their way to some big city like New York City or Los Angeles with a one way ticket.

While the cost to send them to New York or L.A could be expensive in the short term, in the long term they could save a lot of money and lower crime with out the homeless.
 
Alberta gave free bus tickets out of province to welfare recipients for a while about 20 years ago, it worked well for them.
 
they do this in the philippines to some extent.

A friend of mine is from there and he says there are no homeless people. You have all the poor class on different islands and they rarely come over. When they do they just get shipped back.
 
Believe it or not, some cities are doing this already. My friend works for the LA Fire Dept, and he tells me some cities buy one way bus tickets for homeless people telling them the bus is going to Calif. or Los Angeles due to all the services/benefits for the unfortunate. They also send some crazies, too.

Since the economy tanked, I noticed there are more and more people pan handling at every street corner... heck some street corners around my house have two pan handlers...
 
Actually it is cheaper to round them up and shoot them into a pit that they dug themselves and then have the next-to-be-shot homeless man bury the prior. In the Orwellian utopia that the OP has expressed an interest in seeing, based on posts in other threads, I think this story line is consistent with his views.

I was thinking they could probably make some money if they hung out at paintball places and were willing to run around for target practice
 
This is somewhat related:

Food stamps cost state governments money. Social Security Disability costs the federal government money.

So there are companie now who contract with states and go though the lists of those receiving assistance from the states, and contact the people and interview them looking for anyone who might qualify for disability (contrary to the right-wing ignorant paranoia, the US has the strictest standards in the advanced world). Then they assist the person to get disability, filing forms, appealing, and whatever helps get approval.

The states pay the company for each person moved off their program, apparently.

This is a big reason you'll see big increases in disability. But presumably, they're legitimate moves.

Italy just declared the end of teh humanitarian crisis, gave money to asylum seekers and some document to allow them freedom of movement and sent them off.
Of course they all went north to where the money is, the bavarian gov got angry after they stopped a bus full of them with this bullshit document that probably doesn't really allow border crossing.

There are not many legit beggars anyway, no need to ship them anywhere because the gypsy mafia will bring them back. They ride mercedeses.
