Would I notice a difference if I got a new soundcard?

I'm currently using the integrated AC2001 audio and a newq platinum. I've seen the CREATIVE LABS SOUND BLASTER LIVE! 5.1 card all over the internet in the $30 range. Would I notice a difference in sound quality if I upgraded my sound. I think my sound is ok now, but its hard to know what to compare it to. I really don't know what a better sound card has to offer. I use a bookshelf stereo as my speakers so I wouldn't really need the 5.1channel.

If this card wouldn't make much of a difference, is there a soundcard out there that would?

Go to a store that has a Creative, Hercules, Phillips, or Turtle Beach card in a machine and give it a listen. I think it comes down to how important is sound to you. A hardware card will usually sound better than onboard audio(but I haven't heard the AC2001 sound).

I used the AC97 audio on my 8KHA+, and it was crap, so I bought a 5.1. That was good, and then my speakers died, so I bought Logitech Z340s, and now everything sounds great.

it boils down to the kind of speakers you have...

if you have some good speakers like logitech z560, or PM 4.1's, you will hear a difference

My speakers are good, but they are only 2 channel and a sub. Do you guys prefer the creative 5.1 or the santa cruz?
