Would I have enough RAM?

Hello!
Recently I upgraded my PC from 512 MB to 1,5 GB of DDR400 RAM.
I want to play Crysis eventually, right now I only have demo.
I have AMD Athlon64 +3000 and my video card is crappy...its Inno 3D GeForce 6600 256 MB of DDR2 RAM, 64 bit. I turned off page file in XP.
So I tried to play Crysis on Low and on 800x600 resolution and I got about 12 fps -as an average. Not playable, but I have a clue about the game though...
I don't have anything , except for AVG AV and AdAware in a background.
I noticed that Crysis need alltogether about 1,4 GB of RAM. And those idiots at the store aren't ready to accept the memory module back. They say its already not new.
I got couple of times "Memory Low" Windows error messages.
BUT...once I would buy a more decent v. card, there would be AT LEAST 512 MB of RAM on it...So do you think that those extra 256 MB of video memory would make it Windows use LESS regular RAM for running the game? Or should I go with at least 1 GB v. memory in my case?

P.S.Forgot to add that I use 4 yo drivers because those idiots at Nvidia have new Forceware drivers not usable for lowering enough the brightness of the monitor. So I use v. 81.85
As per memory...Obviously 2 Gig is what's needed...but still....my question was...Going from 256 MB to 1 GB in v. memory...wouldn't it make it easier on system RAM? My assumption is that since my current v. card has only 256 MB onboard, and Crysis needs at least around 500...then those missing MB's are taken from system memory...?

* Enable page filing in XP
* Buy a 1GB video card if you can afford it
* Turn off your antiX apps
* Hope for the best

Windows uses virtual memory when it's needed.
Your system memory won't know anything about it, since it will be working as fast as it can anyway.

Stop that, it doesn't do what you think it does.

If your running out of ram i would imagine the last thing you would want to do is disable virtualMEMORY

That and it doesn't disable virtual memory and just ends up constraining the virtual memory manager and makes you run out of memory quicker.

an athlon64 3000 ain't gonna handle crysis. You'd need a 8-series card to get playable FPS on a strong system. A 7-series might cut it but I doubt it.

You should really build a new computer...
