Would i benefit with Duel-Core when double boxing World Of Warcraft

EDIT FOR CLARIFICATION:

I AM RUNNING TWO (2) World of Warcrafts on the same computer at the SAME TIME. also known as dual-boxing. i do not believe that markfw900 understands what that is.


I double box WoW all the time, would i benefit with a dual core processor? would i benefit with quad core, when im running abunch of shit along with 2 WoW's open?


side note:
i run a AMD 3700 (oc'ed 2.9) skt 939, pretty much old school stuff from 2005. i have just graduated college and im making some money. first thing i want to do is build a new rig. and i have been completly out of loop on cpu's and shit, seems like its 4 cores or 2 cores.

ohkay, not to make you sound stupid, but my question is different, because im referring to dual boxing, which your post does not address.. and i Did click on your page before you even linked it. i know wow is not on that list but for my specific circumstance im asking a different question.

What else besides WoW? List some software titles and maybe we can help. For just dual instances of WoW itself, yes a dual core will help.

yea if you are multiboxing any MMO i would get a quad core at least, especially if you play EQ2, since its engine was coded so badly that it actually still can benefit from the extra clocks and performance newer CPUs can provide (it does some graphics on the cpu ). as for WoW dual boxing, make sure your graphics card is powerful enough. some graphics cards dont do as well as others when dual boxing games, especially since you need to be able to render 2 monitors at once. just some food for thought, you might get better performance/$$ at this point if you were to buy 2 cheap dual cores (e5200), p45 motherboards, and some cheaper DDR2 and overclock each, and the pop in an HD4830. the equal machine to run both at once on the same comp would be a lot more expensive since the graphics card you would need would be probably more than twice the cost of the smaller cards in the other comps. when i was playing MMOs a lot i dual boxed a ton. i eventually sold some of the super high end parts and built a second machine, and used a program called synergy to link my mouse and keyboard to both rigs. found it was a lot easier that way, and didnt come with the added lag and instability. i would recommend you do the same

good food for thought, but i dont want the mouse keyboard doing the same thing, i'll have one of my chars farming for materials and one raiding, or one doing a battleground, and another running an instance, so im pretty much playing both of them separtely. but thanks for letting me know.
i'll be getting a quad core i guess.

Since WoW (a single instance) benefits from dual-core, then I would recommend a quad-core for the best dual-boxing experience.

As far as dual boxing is concerned, yes you should benifit by going with a newer dual or quad core processor. I don't play WoW anymore, but my brother still does (and I have it installed on my computer for him if he would ever want to use it). I only ever had 1 account at a time; however, I have dual boxed with his + my account many times. His rig is a 3700+ with 2gb of ram (stock speeds) with a 850XT (it's been a while since I built it... so I'm going to say that I think those parts are correct...). The difference between dual boxing on his rig with a 19" monitor and my rig with a 24" monitor (1920x1200) is night and day. I can run 2 instances smoother and with more detail than he can run a single instance of the game. You definitely will benefit from upgrading, even if you go with a budget dual.

I won't even go into how much better the new rig plays as compared to my athlon xp 2500+ @ 2.3ghz (with a 6800GT series card that I added around 2005). That is what I upgraded from...
