Update : I'm ok. Dead thread.

Dear medical doctors of AT,

On Saturday morning I forcefully walked into a 2 by 4 that was just slightly sticking out in my walking path. It didn't help that I was in a rush at the time. It slammed right into the shin bone right under my knee. I don't even want to try to begin to explain how, but when it was done I was laying on the ground throwing some f-bombs for a good few minutes. I was limping around for the rest of that day.

Today, I still have some pain. I can put my body weight on it just fine top down, but it still hurts if I put "bending weight" on the area effected. And it hurts if I push down with my finger on the bone, but any bruising would hurt so I'm not jumping to any conclusion just yet. It's still a little bit swollen in the area, but not colored. I guess the saving grace is where this happened, the tibia is very wide. The area of impact is just ~2 inches under the kneecap.

How long should wait before getting it checked out? Maybe it just needs a few more days? I used to have this stuff happen as a kid being outdoors all the time, but I don't ever remember it going day to day like this. I've never broken or fractured anything before either, so I have no previous experience of symptoms.

Shin's are particularly bad spots to get hit in (try skateboarding and BMXing, I have tons of scars on mine).

Give it a week. If it is still really tender and sore, have it X-rayed. I can't imagine you did enough damage walking to fracture it, but I could be wrong.
