Would getting a PSP this late in the game be worth it?

I was thinking about a PSP as well... my one question was since I'm interested in the PSN to try out a couple previous PS1 games I missed out on, is the library the same between the 2 devices (between the PSP and Vita)? This was really the only thing I cared about.

Also how do you play the games? I'm assuming I have to buy a memory device? Is one way more expensive than the other?

For PSOne Classics, yes, but I don't know if the Vita is able to download them all itself yet. Last I recall, the PS3 had to be used to transfer any games that Sony didn't add to the Vita, but regardless of Sony's adding, the PSOne game worked anyway.

Yeah, you store it on a memory card. If you want a cheaper option, the PSP is far cheaper than the Vita. If you aren't interested in hacking the PSP and you can find a good deal on a Vita, I would go for that instead. The memory cards are more expensive, but... maybe you'll get a good deal on that too? 😛

There is no need to hack the PSP. The master keys were discovered some time ago. Even the current in store PSP3000 with final 6.60 firmware can run custom firmware out of the box since it can all be signed now.
