No. George Patton was one of the best generals this country has ever seen and a good general knows better than to slap his commander in chief. What a fucking idiotic thread.
This

Slaps go down, not up.
and this

That would never happen. Patton was a US Army general. He knew his place in the command and, like the CinC or not, he'd show him the respect due a man in that position.
He MIGHT resign his command if he disagreed strongly enough with policy...but strike his Commander? Not fucking likely.
and this.

Damn it, Beavis, it's not even normal to ask.

I have a lot of respect for ol Blood n Guts, but I also resent some of his character as well. I suspect the OP was referring to when Patton slapped a GI who was recovering from shell shock and created a gigantic PR nightmare for the Army. I sincerely hope Patton's respect for the office of president would prevent him from delivering a hypothetical slap to Obama's face, but knowing about some of his immature and racist tendencies I can't say for certain.

Sometimes passions get the better of men, even good men. Yuri Gagarin was planning to deck or even kill Brezhnev over his friends needless death, but supposedly had to settle for throwing a drink in the man's face. They know better, but they do it anyway.

Kind of like Patton trying to rescue his son-in-law from a POW camp in Hammelburg instead of focusing on the Wehrmacht and SS divisions he was there to deal with.

Egos thrive in war, especially among the victors. MacArthur felt he didn't need to salute a CiC (Truman) who used to be a lowly second lieutenant. I'd like to think a man of his station could bring himself to observe the most common form of respect due a leader, but there you go.

That's all true, but it's still a fucking idiotic thread. MacArthur, he might have a point, but then MacArthur didn't go around slapping people for cowardice. And besides, Obama isn't displaying cowardice. It apparently isn't well known, but George W Bush did not fight on the front lines alongside his troops either. In fact, I'd say no President has even been close since Washington, and to the extent Washington did so it was unintentional and before he took office. The commander in chief should never be in a position to display cowardice in war. My theory is that the artillery hurts the Secret Service's hangovers.

I'm sure we've both posted in worse. It's just a silly hypothetical, if you want fucking idiotic I'll refer you to anyone taking the time to respond to an incorruptatroll post. ;)

MacArthur, he might have a point, but then MacArthur didn't go around slapping people for cowardice.

It comes down to quality of leadership, more specifically if the humongous egos of certain characters could keep their outrage under wraps in the perceived lack of said leadership. MacArthur was the guy in France who rode his men mercilessly if they forgot to pack their gas masks, yet he rarely carried one himself. And boy did that turn out great when his group actually got gassed. One of those confidence shaking events that make men question their leaders, not unlike Patton slapping two soldiers for a condition he didn't believe in.

It apparently isn't well known, but George W Bush did not fight on the front lines alongside his troops either.

Really? I think that was covered rather well. ;) Yeah yeah yeah, but no, the part that isn't well known is that we selected an AWOLer to be CiC. I don't think many would expect the CiC to personally lead men into combat these days, but I don't think it's expecting much to want a pro-war politician to have been honorable enough to follow through with that sentiment when his country called on him. And a position available to the common man befitting his experience and intelligence, not a textbook definition of cronyism in action. GHWB had the stones to go get shot at, and had several close calls when he saw action in the Pacific flying against the Japanese. It would have been nice if his son inherited a shred of that honorable character, might have allowed him the intestinal fortitude needed to complete his hellish assignment of protecting Texan borders from the Viet Cong.

In fact, I'd say no President has even been close since Washington, and to the extent Washington did so it was unintentional and before he took office. The commander in chief should never be in a position to display cowardice in war.

I seem to recall something about Madison, War of 1812, but I don't know if he was commanding anyone. I know he was close enough to the action he almost got captured, which is wayyyyy too close in anyone's book. Def agree with you though.

I had no idea there was pony porn until he joined the kingdom of crap and started posting the weirdest shit I've ever seen. I had never even considered the idea that some people get off on livestock.

And this is why conservatards are fools for conservative talk. They'll believe anything.

And now that you're here, we can include idiots as well.

LOL! Always nice to see an obama defender made a fool of himself :)

You're wrong it would then be ok for Obama to stand his ground and gun down this hooligan.

Its a silly question, Patton came from a military family. He was groomed to be a leader of warriors. There is no chance of him striking a commander.

So you think obama should shoot him?

In all seriousness no general would ever slap the president. It's not going to happen but obama could use a good schooling by a general though.

Would George S. Patton have slapped W.?

I think the odds of a CiC getting slapped by even a megolomaniac prima dona general are exceedingly low, almost nil, but that of all of the presidents I think W's own history in the military combined with his lackluster intellect (particularly regarding history and science) would have perhaps bumped those odds up a wee bit.

Patton often forgot his place, but he never had a problem remembering the presidents place to my knowledge. Were I a betting man I'd say he'd keep that baton or hand in check, even if he considered the chickenhawk more cowardly and reprehensible than the two GIs he already slapped (they showed up and fought at least).

wtf..who would think up such a thing?
Men don't slap

I think you're forgetting the insult part of it. Striking another man is seen as an affront obviously, but using a feminine manner of delivering it doesn't insult the slapper, as I understand it in the European tradition it means "I'm slapping you because you are less than a man."

So yes, men slap, when they want to underline just how little they think of you. Real men get fists, or swords, or pistols, etc etc

Why has OP run away from own troll thread? Did the ghost of Patton do what he would have done and smack the shit out of OP for suggesting him smack his CIC?

Sorry, I forgot it wasn't you. It was "someone else pretending to be you". I assume that's because whoever it was wanted to bask in the glow of respect and admiration that livestock fuckers are naturally accorded.

We talked, you answered questions and gave explanations about your odd proclivity. I was far more outraged than I should have been because My Little Pony is connected to little girls in my mind, so the whole thing felt like pedophilia to me. I was wrong about that aspect of it, but it's a subject that I didn't even know existed until you presented it in that forum.
It was you, everyone that read it was convinced it was you. I understand your desire to pretend it never happened, but since you're also an intolerable ass, I see no reason to give you a break.

First off no I don't think he would disrespect any president. I was say in jest that many would feel Obama shooting him would be justified since he has proven to know his way around the battlefield, trained in combat and was doing something dangerous you know like throwing popcorn.

Kain/Meat, we need to talk. Even in a thread like this, quoting that idiot is an affront to all that is good and decent. The stupid. My goggles do nothing. Have I mentioned how it confounds those of us who have him on Ignore?

If we were in a computer lab together, now would be the time I whisper over "Ruprect, do you want the genital cuff?"

I haven't had enough caffeine today yet, so maybe I'm just grouchy, but I still feel not feeding the trolls is the best policy. We let them destroy too many threads with potential. :( Not that this is one of them. More of a sacrificial node at this point. ;)

Is this a thing now? Are we going to start seeing posts with pictures of George Washington and Andrew Jackson saying "What if they met obama, would they put the smackdown on POTUS and then dance a jig in crotchless chaps on the white house lawn?!??! ?"

Who cares. The last guy who ever met this man probably died years ago, so nobody can even be expected to accurately answer.

I know you're not serious but it wouldn't happen. You think obama knows how to use a gun? The guy is very anti-gun. No general would slap the president but if it did happen obama wouldn't stand up to him and would back off.

The founding fathers would be disgusted with what obama has been doing and would give him a good schooling.

Patton wasn't even the best general in France, much less WWII. William Simpson was one hundred times the commander Patton was, and his actions away from command generated no headlines.
France had an army???
Your statement is highly debaateable.....
Simpson returned to the US in June, 1945. He undertook a mission to China in July and subsequently commanded the U.S. Second Army at Memphis, Tennessee. He retired in November 1946 and, on July 19, 1954 he was promoted to General on the retired list by special Act of Congress (Public Law 83-508).

General William H Simpson died on August 15, 1980, and is buried alongside his wife in Arlington National Cemetery.

Your right Patton wasn`t the best general in France...he was one of the best generals of all time!!
