Ok my computer specs are:
intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3225 CPU @ 3.30GHz
CPU Speed: 3.30 Ghz
Ram: 3.6Gb
Os: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 6001), 32-bit
Video Card: ASUS HD7770 Series

And im running it on a:
32 inch LCD Monitor
With a Maximum resolution of 1920x1080
Maximum reported refresh rate of 75Hz

I've been experiencing issues with some games that my new built PC should be able to handle such as lord of the rings, star wars and bulletstorm but they appear to be laggy.

Would anyone be able to help figure how to make my machine work to the highest game performance settings?
 
No, it uses something like 3.25GB. (or whatever Windows reports).

And OP... I don't know if a 7700 is enough for 1080p. (some are old games, I know).
But check CPU/GPU temps when gaming... to see if there's some overheating going on.
Drop quality of graphic on games to see if it changes anything.
 
What about my display settings on the actual settings? is there anyway i know what i should set all of them at like a program or a guide?
 
Don't go for the highest settings from the start.
Select medium and try how it plays.
Reduce AF is available in game options, don't use AA.
If it's slow, reduce settings even more.... if not, you can try increasing them a bit.
 
That card should handle between medium to high settings at that resolution. Turn AA off, like others said. You would gain a bit of RAM if you switched to a 64 bit OS, but that will probably make just a slight difference.

Bullestorm runs great on my laptop, but at a lower res and a lower APU.
 
and to play lord of the rings i checked it on can you run it and that said i was up at the recommeded settings! Also another issue im having is that my game is clicking off and if in full screen mode minimizing the window! What is there could fix that?
 
I have also just discovered alot of my dirvers(not my graphics card) where out of date :S that make a difference?

Regardless of the total amount of ram, with 32-bit windows individual applications can only access 2GB of ram by design. When running 32-bit software within 64-bit windows, that limit is 3GB.

OP, what do you mean by laggy. Even the fastest machines can't max everything without some FPS drop. Also, the HD7770 is hardly a show stopper. It is a competent card but it won't compete with any of the available high end stuff. It's a solid performer but I think you're asking too much if you want to use the "highest game performace settings" in every game. Combined with your i3, I'd recommend starting with medium to medium high settings and then increase until the FPS drop becomes unbearable.

Myself, I have a i7 2600k, 8GB ram, and 570 GTX and I still have to reduce settings in some games because I like to keep them at 50-60 FPS where possible.

Im not playing on high quality settings! :l Im playing on very low and it is still laggy which surely should not be happening?
 
Something is definitely fishy going on. You won't be able to max out, but you should be able to easily play on medium or in some cases high will no problems. I used to play LOTRO on high with a C2D and 8800GT with little difficultly. Other than drivers it's possible there is something else causing issues, unfortunately if thats the case it likely won't be obvious.

Did you always have this problem or is this a new build? Did you add the video card to machine you already had? If this was a add-on, did you check to make sure you had an adequate PSU and that your display is connected to the card itself and not the mainboard graphics (assuming it has one)?

By the way I'm just throwing darts and guessing. Assuming the hardware is powerful enough and drivers up up to date, there are any number of other possibilities that can make a computer run sub-optimal.
 
You didn't mention harddrives. You could always get a fast system drive, and a mass storage drive for games. The page file might be slowing you down.

Which "star wars" and "lord of the rings" games are you playing? If they are The Old Republic and Lord of the Rings Online, it could be your internet connection. I am running a HD7770 with an i5 and can play any game I have tried at medium and most at high, but I only play single player. And as others have said, turn of anti-aliasing. It absolutely kills the framerate on a card like the 7770.
