I don't think so. As far as I can tell, republicans have pissed away any appearance of being more adept at security than democrats. If anything, Obama is the one who seems a bit more hawkish, at least with regard to Pakistan anyway. I think a attack from an external terrorist now, basically still under Bush's watch, if anything would push more people towards the democrats.
