Pure false attribution & denial, of course.
I'll agree that govt has been part of the problem, ever since Reagan, even since Carter, who was a great fan of deregulation & "free markets".
They've followed trickle down Reaganomics clear to the end of the rope, the 2008 crash & the lingering lesser depression. Not to mention that the right wing has successfully inoculated their adherents against any idea that the reason there aren't enough jobs is because the Job Creators don't need us the way they once did- they have machines & exploited, underpaid Chinese to do the work for them.
You see, this is where you don't understand me. I'm very much against outsourcing because IMO, that's the biggest enemy of the middle class. The myth that we're outsourcing jobs "no one wants" and that we need to become a "service-based economy" is breathtakingly short-sighted.
Since you mentioned "Job Creators," I'm going to assume you're referring to CEOs specifically. Please tell me exactly what you propose to do in order to regulate (or whatever term you prefer) them.
The answer isn't to belittle the less fortunate
How is providing a program which gives them marketable skills while getting work done that needs to be done "belittling" them? This is a thought process I'll never understand -- those on the left seem to think handouts should be given with no conditions and if you try to attach conditions, you're [insert racist, sexist, elitist, or other -ist]. I don't understand this logic. No one -- let me repeat, NO ONE -- has a right to be supported by the US taxpayer. People are given assistance because it was intended as a safety net. I agree with the existence of this safety net. What I don't agree with is cycles of multi-generational poverty. At some point, you need to let people sink or swim on their own.
All this propaganda induced yammering about smaller govt has a nice emotional ring to it, until we realize that there aren't private sector jobs for laid off govt workers, nor will there be any time RSN. There already aren't enough jobs, so there's no point in making it worse, unless you're already Rich. The best time to be Rich is when everybody else is busted, broke & begging, which is exactly what Repubs are trying to achieve atm.
The bolded line is probably true, but it is interesting how when lefties talk about eliminating insurance companies and going to single payer, they never seem to think about the laid off insurance workers finding work. Interesting, but I digress. Anyway.....
I am certainly not rich by any stretch of the imagination. I was raised middle class and at most, I've made it to upper middle class status. The point I'm trying to make is that the jobs are out there if you have skills, regardless of your lot in life. In August alone, I had 3 job offers. I don't expect others to be this fortunate, BUT the point is that if you have marketable skills, you will have a much better chance of finding a real job. That's what we're advocating with something like the CCC.
