I can't afford a laptop and was thinking of getting one of the cheap PDA's on the market right now, there are a number running for around 150$ (CDN funds), you know monochrome 2 meg whatever. If I got a keyboard, would it be decent to take notes on ? How does the data transfer to my pc ?

it's called college here in the states, son ;)

and yes, it would. they're not so helpful for notes as they are for keeping track of meetings and contacts and stuff.

I doubt you'd find it all THAT useful, but the data would easily sync to your desktop.

No, I just sold my Dell Axim.
If you need to take notes, get a notebook, the screen just doesn't cut it.

Agreed. Do you really want to be the Coke-bottle glassed pencil-necked geek who takes notes on a PDA?

you dont need a PDA for college, and taking notes with a pda is a pain in the ass.

paper = the best

until they come out with a touch-sensitive large screen that's thin and flexible like paper

A tablet would definitely be good.

I find that pencil + paper works well as it makes you write the stuff down, and that helps with learning it. I had a few classes where the prof put the notes up on the internet and damn did I get lazy and suck.

Let me whip out my checkbook, maybe I'll give the guy a tip too
