Would a P35 with an E2180 and 2GB DDR2...

Would that take more power than an old socket 754 mobo with 2GB DDR1 and an Athlon 64 3200+? Everything else will be roughly equal.

My friend doesn't have as much money as she thought she would, so we're hoping that I can just give her Kitty's old 350W PSU (no idea about rail amps) and case.

350W is more than enough for that, but it depends largely on the video card. An E2180 and 2GB of DDR2 and a 9800GTX is a bit different from an E2180 and 2GB of DDR2 and a 6800GS. Nonetheless, it should be good as long as it has all the right connections.

videocard would be a 7600GS.

I really just needed to know if P35 + C2D had significantly different power requirements from the older setup. Hence why I said "everything else would be roughly equal".

My vote is you will be ok. Does the PSU have a 20pin or 20+4pin ATX12V connector?

I'm fairly sure it's 20+4pin, but thanks for reminding me of something to check!

I run a similar system (OC to 3GHz) using an good old 350Watts PSU with 20 pins and its works very well.

I find that the Antec EA380 is more than enough power for some suprisingly loaded p35 systems with a bunch of drives. :) So a basic configuration should be all set with a decent 350+ drive.
