Would a gtx 770 be a big upgrade from the 760?

I have a gtx 760 2gb version right now and some games i play struggle with max settings. most older ones dont have this problem but many newer games do.
I use a single monitor at 1080.
Would it be a pretty big improvement if i get a gtx 770 FTW edition ?
any advice would help, thanks
pc specs,
i5 3750K oc to 4.3ghz
asus P8z77V-LK MB
16g RAM
500g HDD

Agreed the next logical step from the 760 would be the 780.

The Boost in performance from the 760 to 770 just isn't worth it.

And at this point your better to wait.

I can afford the 780 so i should spend the extra $100 over a 770 to get one?
How much better is that than a 770 FTW?

I still recommend you do as facetoface suggested and wait because it won't be that long till next gen.

Yes a 780 is a better choice than the 770 as it will provide more of a boost in performance than the 770 will.

The big question is can you wait for the next gen and will overclocking your 760 hold you over until then.

is there a set date for next gen gtx's?
Oc'ing my 760 did not really get me the results i want.

trust the above posters, the next logical step up is either a 780/ti or if you have no brand preference 290/x.

Yes i am seeing that 770 will not really wow me like a 780 would.
I would wait for next gen and just deal if it is not 4- 6 months from now?

I just had the same basic dilemma and i vote gtx 780. I just ordered a super clocked version with 6g vram.
it will be more future proof than a 770 but also is a more powerful card.
the only downside is the 770 has 4gb of ram and the 780 is 3gb.
Normally this would not be a issue but lately word has it that the more vram the better.
This started with the watch dogs release for pc when many found that it was using over 3gb's of ram.
probably a isolated case but it has me and others wondering if 3g's will be enough in the near future?

Based on the rumors i'm seeing highend Maxwell will either be late 2014 or early 2015 due to a TMSC delays...maybe others can confirm this.

So that is just abit over your 4-6 month window so its looking like the 780 will be the choice as you said its in your budget.

thanks. i really cant wait that long so since the 770 is not really leaps and bound better than what i have now i will go with the 780
I just hope i dont regret the 780's 3G's of ram verses the 4G's with the 770?

To be honest I wouldn't worry about 780 3GB vs 770 4GB.

The 780 will be faster in all situations and if you actually find a game where the extra 1GB on the 770 does help you can just drop the settings abit on the 780 to stay within its 3GB limit and it should still be faster than the 770.

cpu bottlenecking will be more of a concern at 1080p than the 770's extra vram.

Also the resale value on the 780 should be higher than the 770 when you decide to upgrade next in a few years

There are 6GB 780's surfaceing at the moment, Asus is about to release it's strix version.

Just out of interest, what games are you having difficulty running at 1080p?

No you will be fine at that overclock.

It was just a general statement when you game at 1080p with highend gpu's.

And yes my previous response was to you I just notice it was the other guy lol.

i would not really say difficulty running them but trying to max Crysis 3, need for speed- most wanted and Battlefield 4 have a problem with low FPS on a 760 if i set them too high
