Would a E8600 replace a E6700 see benchtest

-seems to run @4400 with 1.232v per CPUZ is that worth it over a E8400
-also I do have a second complete system, only missing a cpu , that will take the E6700 I have.
-E6700 runs good @ 3.6 1.375v , @ 3.8 1.4v you can tell it's stressed but stable ,
-would 4.2 be a good running speed for the E8600 ?

Seems like more should run safe at 4.2 my E8400 will but its a good chip i believe. If you do try this let us all know as many of us have the same questions.................
I will be waiting a while though unless I build another complete system.

The risk of getting an average chip is probably lower if you buy the E8600. For example, my E8400 isn't that much of an overclocker and needs 1.25V for 3.8GHz. An average E8400 will hardly provide much benefit over your current E6700 at 3.6-3.8GHz. Also worth mentioning is the fact that the E8600 should be easier to overclock due to the higher multiplier.

Whether 4.2GHz is feasible or not depends highly on luck of the draw. If you're unlucky, you may get one that requires excessive voltage to reach those kind of frequencies.
