Hi,
very soon (a few days) i`ll be getting a Sapphire 9700Pro video card.
Does anybody know/think that it`ll be able run Deus Ex 2 at 1280x1024@max detail?
have a look at firingsquad for a link in the news section to the latest screanshots of Deus Ex 2. It looks almost as good as doom3 imo.
For my PC specs, check my sig.

Your specs should be fine, but it is hard to say with any game coming out coded by anyone other than Carmack. Nobody can optimize the way he can.

You may be fine OCing with your Radeon, but I have heard it said that the 9700s in particular are sensitive to increased AGP speeds. Something to think about.

The AGP 8x issuse has been fixed, if the card doesnt boot up with your system try downloading the newest bios for your mobo and flashing it.

You may would have to get a faster CPU since your 9700Pro will be cpu bottlenecked, but for now your games will run fine. with your current processor, I think Deus Ex2 would run fine at 1024x768 full settings with AA and AF. Oh well, point is, your 9700 is gonna be great. Enjoy it.

Thanks for the replys.
Now for specifics.

TourGuide,
ive heard about Radeon9700`s not liking AGP speeds over 70mhz. With a bit of luck, i`ll be ok with it, if not the ah well, back to stock speeds it is. Until i get a new mobo that supports AGP speed locking, that is.

Tabb,
Check out my other post. It relates to your suggestion. Here

Excelsior,
I know that my CPU will be the bottle neck with a 9700PRO, but when i upgrade my mobo, i might get another, faster CPU as well, so that eliminates that bottleneck in the system, or i`ll OC my XP1800 again, prehaps further. Until i get a faster CPU that is.

Also, my point for 1280x1024 is becuase im also getting a Hitachi 17" TFT (16ms, mmmmm) and its native res is 1280x1024. It`ll do 1024x768, but it wont be as crisp of an image, although i hear that the TFT that im getting has a scaling engine that increases the crispness t at non native res`s.

Yeah, I was just saying if you wanted to be sure you could play that game at 1280x1024 then youd need a faster cpu and DDR. Dont get me wrong, your system now is just fine.
And yeah, i saw the screenshots, they do look nice, thats for sure. I cant wait too see what games look like 5 years from now.

Hi, again.
My Mobo & Ram is holding back my system at the moment, but i plan to upgrade later this year, when the new standards (such as AGP8x/SATA) have had the bugs ironed out, and when hopefully, the next AMD chip is out.
I plan to use the 9700pro longterm, cos its extrememly cpu scaleable. So when i do upgrade to a new processor, i`ll get a nice big(ish) performance boost in fps.

Since the game isn't out yet all you can do is speculate. Wait and see, that's the only way to know for sure.
