Current system -
Sempron 3100 Paris (.13u)
Chaintech nForce 3 754
Radeon 9800 Pro
Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS

New system-
Either Vince 3200+ 59.99 from tiger direct
or San Diego 3700+ for $80 from a personal auction

Abit KN8 for $56 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...TC-pr1c3grabb3r
Radeon X600 Pro
Intagrated Audio

How does this look? Is the 3700+ really worth the extra 20 bucks? I don't game on here, I just wanted a quieter and cooler system, and how is the intagrated audio on this?

I know the x600 isnt as powerful, but i just dont game on ehre anymore. Ive got a 360 for that. I mainly just do photo editing and some video converting (DVD to divx) Right now, my paris cored sempron is a furnace (well the room temp is 82 to start with )

To be perfectly honest it you don't game I can't see much requirement to upgrade from what you have. As for cooler and quieter, an aftermarket cooler for the Sempron and 9800 as well as some new quieter case fans would acheive this with too much expense.

well I went ahead and did it. Total cost out of my pocket (after selling the old stuff) - $43.

AMD 64 3700
Abit KN8
2x512 PC3200 (finally dual channel)
ATI x700

multitasking seems a hell of a lot faster too (dont know if its because of the extra 400mhz, 4x the L2 cache or because of the dual channel ram
