That's the real problem. At this age, most 1080 Tis have been heavily used, mining or not. Even if it's a "gaming only" card, thermals and degraded VRMs might already be in the danger zone. No warranty either.is it a worthwhile upgrade to go to a 1080Ti?
Or the chances of getting a non mined one are exceptionally small?
You're looking at a ~25–30% performance bump depending on game/resolution, but...

Bottom line: Going from 1080 to 1080 Ti now is a lateral move with high risk and no future-proofing. Only makes sense if it's under $120 and from a trusted local source with testing window.
Exactly. VRAM thermal pads, dried paste, fan bearings, it's a time bomb past 5-6 years, unless you're into teardown/repasting.That's a great point.. even if not mined.. no guarantee the person did a good job of cleaning the card and heat and dust are the biggest enemies.
Good move. 1080 still holds up surprisingly well at 1080p/1440p with a few tweaks. Wait out for a real leap instead of a sidegrade.I guess I'll keep my 1080 for now.
You're not alone lol. A lot of us skipped gen after gen because NVIDIA milks every $.Earlier I wanted to upgrade to 3070, then 4070.. now a 9070xt..
