Worth watching Battlestar Galactica past season 2?

I started watching the show not too long ago, and its been very good. I've also read a ton of comments saying the series finale is horrible, and that the show in general drops off after season 2.

I just finished the season 2 finale and even midway through this episode it kind of jumps shark. So those that have watched it the series, is it worth continuing? I'm planning on it unless theres an overwhelming response to NOT keep going

I'm finishing up the last season. Its lost some of its luster, but it still enjoyable to watch.

Season 4 wasn't quite as good, but it was still worth my time. Season 3 was good.

Unless you absolutely cannot stand themes dealing with spirituality and fate continue watching. I will admit that it does get a little crazy towards the end, especially some things involving Starbuck which never gets explained but is integral to the plot.

I definitely enjoyed the first two seasons the most, where it's about surviving in space and the problems you'd encounter when your species is only 40K strong and being hunted.

The finale is AMAZING. It goes on a bit too long, and some of the mysteries are not solved to everyones satisfaction.

Their are some slow moments after the first two seasons, where the show switches from outer space to inner character development. Yet, its worth sticking to it.

The final battle is AMAZING. I just rewatched it recently on bluray on a 52 inch lcd, and it was the one of the best special effects creations of a space battle I have ever seen.

I would say yes. You can kinda tell the story direction isn't as cohesive after season 2 and at times seems lost and confused. Quite frankly at times, it really does appear they are winging it.

But that being said - it's still pretty good watching. At no point was I really like "Oh, this show sucks" - I would totally watch the other two seasons.

The finale is just not on par with the rest of the show. It has truly amazing visual moments, it makes a nice callback to early story elements, and it answers a good amount of questions. Just not all of them... in fact it straight up ignored some. But the second two seasons and the finale are worth watching.

Absolutely. Best show of the last 6 years.

Don't let a few whiners get to you. Enjoy the show. IMO, season 2.5 was the worst of the series.

That being said, the 2.5 finale is one of the best episodes of the show. Jump shark? Give me a break.

What are you talking about? BSG never went past its second season. Also, strangely some episodes from S1 & 2 never aired.

Definitely worth watching. It won't compare to the first season, but it's worth seeing to completion.

I'm jealous of those who haven't yet seen the first season. I wish I could watch it fresh again. The persistent sense of dread is unlike anything I've seen in another show.

the show is worth watching, but the ending isn't that great IMO.

The absolutely strongest point of the series is what the characters go through, even given some of the ridiculous plot points, the characters are supremely memorable.

In a lot of sci-fi books (especially the revered hyperion series, where almost nothing gets answered), religion and spirituality has a huge role. In fact, Hyperion series is a great set of books to read before finishing the BSG series, because, Hyperion can actually answer quite a bit of questions that BSG left behind after the finale. There's startling parallels between BSG and Hyperion.
