I am considering buying a SOYO Dragon Plus MOBO to upgrade my ASUS A7V. I want to get the MOBO and atleast 256 Mb DDR ram. Including tax shipping etc I figure somewhere around $200 (US). I will be using my 1.2 Ghz (200 Mhz FSB) Athlon. The upgrades are for my Koukla the Cat machine listed on my rigs page.

Thanks

I highly doubt you'll see much of any difference upgrading just your mobo and ram.

You're not even getting anymore ram, just slightly faster ram

I seriously think you should consider upgrading your processor as well....unless your master plan is to upgrade your cpu later?

I am pretty happy with the 1.2 Ghz but I do plan to upgrade in the future. Anyone upgrade to this board and notice any difference?

Ok, I am thinking about the Epox 8kHA+ instead of the SOYO. A friend I trust recommended this board over the Dragon +. With the money I save on the board I can get the ALPA 8065 (I know ive got to slightly mod the HS). I will probably upgrade to an Athlon XP after X-Mass.

I would consider the Epox 8k7a its a very solid board . The alpha Pal8065 is one of the best heatsinks out there

I was told that the Epox is a great board, especailly for the money. It is at Newegg for $105.00 that is cheap for a good board.
