I currently have an OC i7-920 running around 3.6ghz. Would a i5-4570s Be a worth while upgrade? i know there are lots of other options but i am just comparing these 2. And yes i know its the low tdp version.

the biggest difference would be the power usage... if you really want something that feels fresher and will produce less heat it can be a fun upgrade... but overall don't expect any huge gains (apart from efficiency), and the 4570s can't be overclocked... it's faster but it lacks HT..

Probably not, though it shouldn't be too hard to monitor your GPU/CPU usage and see if you're hitting a wall.

I'm running a HD7970 OCed to 1.2GHz with an i7 920 D0 @ 4GHz on my other system. Havent noticed any bottlenecks.

Good move staying with the 3.6Ghz 920. A locked i5 is kind of a sidegrade at best, though SATA/USB is better on the newer mobos. But yeah, going from Quad + HT @ 3.6Ghz to 2.9Ghz Quad w/3.6Ghz Turbo = big meh. The best gains would be AVX2 stuff and some poorly threaded games like SC2/Skyrim. But at 3.6+, a 920 will still pump great frames at good settings with a good current GPU.
