Worth the switch from 9800pro to 6600GT

i read up on the new 6600GT and i was wondering if its worth switching from my current gecube 9800xt to this new card?in some of the benchmarks ive seen,it seems that when it comes to aa/af,6600gt usually gets slowed down when it comes to higher resolutions,i dont play some of the games like doom3 or bfv or far cry,and right now im playing cs:source
anyway if im not going to get 6600gt,i probably would look to PCI-E cards for my next upgrade

There isn't much difference between the two at 1024x768 and below, so probably not worth upgrading, especially with the 6600GT AGP still selling at $240.

personally i would wait because although the 6600 is a great card at i think the $200 mark, you are going to take a hit on your xt. wait for the pci-e stuff to get started and get a couple of revisions. i just bought a 9800pro 3 months ago, now the 6600s in agp are coming out, bummer, but like with all computer stuff, if you wait there will always be something faster next month.

With their 6600GT AGP's that is.

Only switch if you want to run games at 1280+
Up to 1024 there is almost nothing between them.

The 1st big step up would be X800 Pro or 6800.

I built a new rig for xmas for my brother and i used the XFX 6600gt wasnt really happy with it .
its a little loud . and i think im a little spoiled from my gainward 6800 ut . if it was me i would save

Don't upgrade, the 9800xt is almost the same performance in everything except Doom 3.

I think it even gets higher benches in HL2 than the 6600gt.

a "real" upgrade would be from a 9800p/xt to a 6800GT.

BTW, the NEW core - r520 - a real performance beast - should be out by (this) Summer . . . . 😉

It's like a sidegrade and a loss in your wallet. Make a worthwhile upgrade to a 6800GT or don't upgrade at all
