Im upgrading my computer to a P4 machine this summer, on a ASUS PC4800-E Deluxe mobo. Right now I still have my 40 gig Western Digital 7200 RPM that I bought in the summer of 2001 for my first computer build.

Would it be worthwhile to upgrade to like an 80gig Special Editon WDD with the 8meg cache or will I just not benefit much to warrant it? The SATA Segates are to expensive and don't see them worthwile atm from the benchmarks i've seen. All I do is run games, I don't need RAID or any of that junk. Keep in mind i've been runing FAT32, so when I reinstall XP Pro, i'll probably do NTFS this time around.

The other part being the sound card. Im not a major audio freak, I don't have gigs of Mp3s stored, or rip music alot or watch DVD, or use a surround sound system, I basically use my headphones and occasionally my basic 2.1 system. Its just a LIVE! card without the 5.1 that I got dirt cheap from a friend cause my Philips refused to run Battlfield with it. Think its worth dumping $120 for an audigy 2? Im mostly wondering if my gain in FPS will warrant it, as I doubt I"ll hear much if any difference between the two cards.

I would only get a new hardrive if you need the extra space. Just keep the Live soundcard you have right now, it will be fine.
