Well not exactly. The lack of a peformance hit on AGP is mostly due to video cards not using up all the available bandwidth....yet. Eventually PCI-E will be a neccesity...but right now a good AGP card is more than adequate.

Depends on what your current system looks like. I also have a S754 system, a A64 3200+ Newcastle CG core running at 2.5GHz, 2x512MB Kingmax DDR500 memory and a 6800GT. I still consider it pretty high end even today. If yours is anything like mine, I wouldn't even think about upgrading till at least a year later.
