I was just wondering if anyone thinks it's worth it to switch? i'm running a duron 600 at 1050, but just curious if it's worth it to switch for the performance increase with higher fsb? just wondering your thoughts, thanks.

No Way Save your Doe for better things down the road. I think Its like a 5%to 10% performance increase so if thats worth $160 to you then I would say go for it.

Yeah, i know, i mainly was just thinking of selling my kt7-raid online somewhere, and spending a few extra bucks to get the higher fsb. I don't know if this 133 fsb thing is all that. Will have to see.

put your mobo on e|bay with a reserve price of [kt7a price - how much is acceptable in your opinion to pay for the increase in speed]
and then just dont' sell it if no makes the reserve. easy enough ;)

I'm in the same position as Balael and I think I'll do what elSmoko suggests. Nothin to loose ;)

I would wait. I currently have the KT7A and like it but see better things coming down the line very quickly.

Like what? The MSI K7T Turbo? Or do you mean DDR solutions?
Interested to hear some examples before I make a deal...

well i did sell my kt7-raid mobo on e]bay, got a new kt7a, and i'd like to say that i'm happy with it. Much faster then my original setup, especially since i do a lot of 3d graphix programs. here's what i've got now.

kt7a with duron 600
1 x 256mb crucial

Stable at 150 x 7 =1050

very fast.

ok...i am a little confused. You guys keep saying that you have to overclock the FSB, but then say to 133 or something like that...BUT the athlon has a 200mhz fsb. Wouldnt that be an underclock? Please explain how this works, THANKS

Do you just decrease the FSB and then increase the multiplyer????

THanks Mustanggt,
I didnt realize the Athlon had a 100mhz fsb with ddr. I thought it was just 200mhz..but i guess the ddr makes it 200mhz. Now i know what you guys mean by changing the fsb to 133mhz. With ddr that would make it a 266mhz fsb! so if you have an athlon with 100mhZ fsb and set the multiplier to 4.5 would that make your total cpu speed 900mhz, or would you have to set the multiplier to 9x???

I bought the KT7AR, but I was getting a whole new system. If I had an Athlon already, I'd wait for a bitchen DDR rig. I know they've been just around the corner for months now, but with VIA and AMD shooting it out, and Micron and nVidia just around the corner, things will get very sweet here very soon in the performance market.

Pers: The BIOS says 9x100 when it's actually 4.5x200. (Just to make things easier I suppose)
