Worth it to get the nforce 2 ultra over standard?

BD2003

Lifer
Bout to buy a new motherboard.

Standard nforce 2 is 47 bucks, the ultra is 59 bucks.

Is it really that much faster? Ive been using dual channel right now and other than the memory benchmark I dont notice much of a difference. My only concern is game frame rates. Id rather spend the 12 bucks on better ram if theres no major difference.

Seems like the nforce 2 ultra boards are generally faster and have more/newer features than the non-ultra boards. I would think that $12 is definitely going to serve you better on the motherboard than on the mem, where I don't think $12 will make much of a difference, if any, in the qaulity/performance. In addition, I would recommend you post in the motherboard forum here for a better chance of running across someone who's researching the same issue or has more specific info.

If you plan on eventually running at 200mhz FSB, then yes. Otherwise, don't worry about it. Personally, I'd get it.
