Worth it to get Day Z now?

So I love playing Day Z SP, but I heard that Day Z standalone is coming out soon too. Would it be wise to buy Arma 2 now and get Day Z, or should I just wait until its a standalone and I dont need to buy Arma 2?

Don't bother unless its super cheap. Its a fun diversion but that's it.

I thought I heard the Day Z standalone is coming out on their newest engine for Arma3? If so buying Arma2 and Day Z is rather pointless unless you want to just play the current mod version. No release date on when the standalone version is to release. I'm not even sure if they started it yet or not. Berst to research it some more I'm thinking.

Rocket has said he is planning to have the standalone available by the end of the year so I'd definitely just wait it out at this point.

I just resumed playing on a private hive, with less hacker-induced issues.
It's still fun if you play with buddies. Solo, I'm not really tempted.

If you can get it for <15 it's not a bad buy. I play on a private hive my clan owns though.
