If you're only keeping it for a year, get a used car.

Cost of ownership wise, you'll be way ahead buying a 10 year old Excursion.

I dont think so. The other day on the radio i listened to a report i belive by consumers reports stating that the actual MPG the hybrids get is much less than what the manufacturs are reporting. this included highway and city mpg.

found a link

Data from independent product-testing organization Consumer Reports indicates that hybrid cars get less than 60 percent of EPA estimates while navigating city streets. In Consumer Reports' real-world driving test, the Civic Hybrid averaged 26 mpg in the city, while the Toyota Prius averaged 35 mpg, much less than their respective EPA estimates of 47 and 60 mpg. Hybrid cars performed much closer to EPA estimates in Consumer Reports' highway tests.

30k Miles. WTF, man you should relocate if you are driving that far to work everyyear, that would be cheaper than all the gas money you spend!

not in my case, houses anywhere near where I work are 400K starting.

I'm obviously taking Clean-Fuel Tax Deduction and Fuel Economy into consideration. I don't care too much about performance as long as it's not like a Honda Insight. I care more about interior comfort, reliability, and future resale value as I'm looking to keep it for a year.

My budget is < $30k

resale value on a hybrid? maybe when the technology gains more "economic" advantages

If it's quality, comfort, and resale value you're looking for and you've got #30k to spend you might want check out something like the BMW 325i. BMW's are about tops when it comes to resale value.

Even better would be to buy a used car - as their value don't decrease as steeply as that of the new cars.
