OK....just bought a Sapphire 6950 from Microcenter for $200 (was an "open box" that was brand new, just someone had pilfered the CD and Crossfire bridge from it....)

Works great, but now just found another 6950 for $180, new and unopened.

Worth adding it to the system below?

i7 920 @ 4GHz (water cooled)
12GB Mushkin Redline 1600 (3 x 4GB)
3 hd's....WD 1TB Black, 2 WD 1 TB green (storage)
Corsair HX850 ps
Asus RII Gene mb
24" Asus monitor, 1920 x 1200 resolution

If not, it'll just go into the boat, as it always seems to.

Is the current level of performance of the single 6950 satisfactory? If not, buy another one. If yes, why waste $180?

Most AAA games support crossfire these days.

Although Crysis 2 still doesn't have proper support after 4 patches unless you rename to file to Fear or Bioshock...

Well, I figure one reason it's so cheap is that it's what I would consider a lower tier brand...powercolor.

But, with that price, and from a major etailer with an excellent return policy, figured I really couldn't go too wrong.

So I just went ahead and bought it half hour ago. One reason was, after upgrading from a 4870, Civ V still wasn't smooth enough. And for under $400 with performance rivaling, if not outright beating, a GTX 580, why not?

Thx all for the input.

Yes i believe your 920 @ 4.0 is strong enough to take advantage of two 6950's. go for it, especially at 180. if i had to buy new vga card(s) today, i would get a pair of 6950's.
