Worst... weekend... ever.

So I was going to the Drive-Thru Invasion concert in atlanta. I live in Charleston, a good 5 hours away if traffic is good. Sounds simple. I'm all for keeping it KISS, but we couldn't, we had to make a 2-hour detour to Greenville, SC, to pick up one of my friends. Hey, anyone ever tried fitting 5 people into an mx-6? 4 is cramped as hell. 5 is like a damn clown car. So we end up getting my friend's mom to lend us her '93 Camry. It can fit 5, not very comfortably though. So we get in atlanta, totally forgetting about the Georgia Tech / Clemson game... get off at the exit, and... stop. WTF. The car breaks down. We push it a couple blocks (luckily we found some boy scouts, those lil' helpful bastards are everywhere). But no one knows where the club is. We finally find out, about 45 minutes before the show, that it's around 4 miles away. But we have to wait for the tow truck, which finally gets there and all loaded at about t - 20 minutes. 4 miles in 20 minutes isn't do-able. But we start hauling ass anyway. 5 blocks down (still 3 miles or so away) we run into a MARTA bus that the driver says will be going past the club. So we get tickets and get off at the club, not realizing we have nowhere to stay. I finally remember after the opening band, and with 4 acts left, we try to find someone that lives in Atlanta that can house us for the night. We can't find anything, so before the last act we get desperate and start calling our parents seeing if anyone we know lives there. I finally get in contact with a friend of my dad's that says we can stay the night. So at 11:30 we have to find a way to get there. He tells us to take the last train out to the 'burbs and he'll pick us up. Wait, sh*t, we're 2 miles away from the station with only twenty minutes till the last train! We haul ass like it's never been hauled before and get there with about 30 seconds to spare, get on, and get out to his stop, and he picks us up. It's pretty good overnight, then today (sunday) morning. The dude's mom that's car broke down rented a car and came to pick us up. We get directions from my dad's friend to where the car was towed, and after thanking him for everything, set off to the car to get our posessions. Then we get stuck in falcon traffic for a damn hour, and FINALLY get to the car. Someone f*cking busted the window and took ALL our sh*t except one shirt and a couple well-hidden cd's. GRRRR. I hate the world sometimes. The worst goddamn part about it though is that our tight-knit group of friends came out of it damn near clawing at each other.

The concert was good, and I got quite a few autographs, but it wasn't worth all that trouble. I've seen better.

At least you've probably learned a life lesson or something like that...

The only part that really sucks is that car being broken into 🙁

Sweet concert dude!

I went to the Drive Thru Invasion this Friday (the 19th) at HOB in Orlando. That concert was super sweet! The Starting Line rocked, and I got an autograph from the singer of Home Grown.

Didn't read the rest of your story, but sweeet concert!

EDIT: Also got tickets to Thursday/Thrice (both these bands rock), on November 13th, and Taking Back Sunday (best band evar)/Saves the Day on November 4th. I can't wait!

so, how about somebody who's read it all the way through give us their notes? 🙂

Sorry to hear about the back weekend tho.

Cliffnotes:

-Went to concert
-Borrowed mom's car
-Mom's car broke down
-Said car got broken into
-Friends wanted to kill each other

Actaeon, yeah it rocked, I got a hell of a lot of autographs. At least one from every band (Early November, Senses Fail, Home Grown, Allister, Starting Line). I found one of those Drive-thru books at the end of the concert, but I didn't get any autographs later, so that sucked. All the ones I got are on the jacket to home grown's "That's Business" CD.

EDIT*
And thanks for the cliffnotes NeuroSynapsis.

There are a few million of us here in Virginia, North Carolina, and Maryland that had much worse weekends.

meh. I think my girlfriend and I broke up. I can't really tell, we've gone silent after us yelling at each other all Saturday night.

I had to log back in for an instant to reply . . . IT IS SUCH A NICE DAY, I'm gone outside . . .

however,

sorry to hear about your terrible weekend.

I guess I got the Other end of the deal . . . my WEEKEND was AWESOME. UNbelievable (in fact, if I posted half of the details, I'd lose what little credibility I have here) :Q

In fact, I'd call mine a "turning-point"

(a good one that I can "work") 😉

😀

In fact the only downside was that I got VERY LITTLE SLEEP . . . :yawn;

😀

So . . . you win some, you lose some but life goes on . . . and there is always NEXT weekend!

g'luck

aloha
