That sounds plausible but the director could have made his point without making a weaksauce movie.

I remembered another film... U-571.

Pearl Harbor is amazingly bad, and for all the money spent on it it's also a film made with incredible laziness. Watch the Japanese planes fly over obviously modern US warships--they just didn't even try other than their cartoonish CGI battleships. The models in Tora Tora Tora were almost as convincing, and that movie is decades old.

U-571--also a contemptible mess.

I would also second The Green Berets--I couldn't even finish it.

Going to the ancient world--Troy is a mediocrity, as is Alexander, and while Gladiator isn't a war movie per se, the opening battle scene is a total disaster in terms of accuracy.

oh yea, Tora, Tora Tora. the romance scenes were really really bad. nothing like making a naval aviator look like a whiny little bitch.

Are you and I thinking of the same movie with Tora Tora Tora? Perhaps you are thinking of Pearl Harbor. Tora Tora Tora is a classic.

Except for Jarhead, that is my list. I've tried twice to make it through Thin Red Line, but just can't.

EDIT: I'd also add Saving Private Ryan, after the first 20 minutes it quickly went down hill, IMO.

Honorable mention goes to "Battle of the Bulge". Not for it being a horrible movie overall but for blatant historical inaccuracy in moving the battle from a densely wooded area into a giant arid (almost desert like) battlefield.

hahah i remember seeing that in the movie as a kid and think WTF!! plus the germans were driving american M60 tanks with the iron cross on it. Patton (the movie) did that too.

I don't see that as a big deal, Private Ryan used two different version Marders and called them Panthers.

I know it's not a war movie. But Stealth sucked so hard I felt the air escaping my room.

I mean, really. My childhood hero was Chuck Yeager. The guy that played Chuck Yeager did a fine job in the movie The Right Stuff.
I haven't recalled him in any movie until I saw Stealth. He comes from that to this? Ultimate WTF moment. And a decent cast like Josh Lucas (Glory Road), Jamie Fox, and ooh la la Jessica Biel couldn't rescue this.

I blame Blu-ray. I just wanted some Hi-def eye candy.

Red Dawn was so awful! Can't believe the wifey and I paid to go see this POS propaganda at the theater back then.:frown:

The Patriot was also a steaming deuce.:|

The Iron Eagle movies also deserve a place in film hell.

I don't watch many war movies, but by far the worst I've seen is Jarhead.

They should rename the movie "Playing in the desert until nothing happens then going home"

Thin Red Line. I might need to give it another shot, but I saw it in the theaters when it came out, first war movie I ever fell asleep in. It was 12 hours long right?

I see this thread and decide to post "Band of Brothers" to see if anyone says anything.

Then I get in here and look at the second post and think "wtf", then realize it's a year old. lol, some things don't change.

Why did you seek out and bump a 1+ year old thread.
