Worst vacation policy ever?

OK, I'm a salaried engineer. This is the genreal layout:

2 weeks vacation: 0-10 years
3 weeks vacation: 10-20 years
4 weeks vacation: 20+ years

WE can take unpaid vacation if it gets approved. But in general, the rules are total horse poop. Does anyone have a plan worse than this?

Oh, and if you have 20 years experience elsewhere and come to work here, you start at 0 years. YES, ZERO YEARS! You can't even negotiate this. Total cr@p.

Anyone.

Damn, that sucks. I hate the vacation plans where a new hire gets exactly the same as a 5+ year employee. Doesn't seem like the best way to take care of your loyal employees.

Hahahaha, not here. They say take the offer or walk. They'll just get someone else. They also do not negotiate on salaries offered. it's a 100% take it or leave it deal.

Sorry man, hang in there until you find another job. Sounds your company's employee retention program may need a facelift before there's a mass exodus.

wow, that's a pretty crappy plan for long timers, but a pretty sweet deal for those just starting out. two weeks vacation on your first year??? not too shabby.

most places around here are no vacation for the first six months or year, then 1 week until you hit 3 or 5 years, then 2 weeks thereafter, and so on...

i still wanna move to europe - most countries have mandatory vacation - Italy is 35 days a year! that's SEVEN weeks....

Yeah. I believe this is the case in my company.

Pretty much the manual says 2 weeks for less than 4 years of service, but the trick is, if you get hired as an officer, you start with 4 weeks.

If the policies are bad and you are miserable at such a company, why not find work elsewhere? Life is way too short to be miserable working for someone you don't want to work for.

If you don't like the working conditions, quit.

Crappy benefits and conditions exist because people continue working for the employers that offer them.

Don't know if I should chime in, the policy I get is far far better than what people have mentioned. 4 weeks a year, taken at intervals (first year, rest up to you really. reason being it accumulates over time). 1 week shutdown over Christmas/New year break. Course I work for a uni so it's better than most. Now if only I could actually TAKE my holidays. Thank god for the Christmas shutdown, without that I'd have no holidays.
