I HATED English, but I was good at it 😕 a college professor wanted me to become an English major

I suck at social studies/history, it's all memorizing facts, and I hate that.

I  math!

Always hated Maths. PRobably because I had a frikkin nut for a teacher. He was from Jamaica and preferred to sip his "Cold Tea" instead of teaching us anything. And when he did try to teach. It made no frikkin sense.

I think that depends on when you ask and how you.. decide. math was always my best thing, until calculus.. when it became my worst thing.. then I survived that and it became my best thing again (although I took kinda ecclectic elective maths, after.. because.. I LIKE math.. 'cept calculus). still.. it's the only thing I failed repeatedly (actually, I only technically failed it once) (but it was near enough, the other times) (damned calculus) so..

it's a hard question! geometry was my favorite class ever! but ohmygosh, calculus.. my daughter's boyfriend's parents are both math professors.. and they assure me that since the early 70's, they have learned how to teach calculus in a way that makes it.. relevant. I think I could have learned it.. at least in fewer tries.. if someone had ever made it clear what it was good for! I STILL have no idea what it's good for.. other than failing out freshmens, But.. my kids sailed on through it with much less trouble than they had with algebra II. while I.. sailed right through algebra II, it wasn't as fun as geometry but.. it made sense.. and met my waterloo at calculus. over and over and over again.

part of me would like to try it again. it embarrasses me some that I had so much trouble learning it, and I'd like to see if.. if they told me why I needed to know it and gave me actual stuff to figure out with it.. whether it'd make sense this time around.

course.. after all this time, I'd probably need to do college algebra again first..

math. my best, and worst, subject. 🙂

anno
