When I was 19 I got a part time job at Dairy Queen. It sucked so much. I quit after three days when I was told to clean the windows with Windex and old newspapers for the third time that morning.

Over the years, when work was plentiful, I'd quit a job at the drop of a hardhat.

Boss in a bad mood yelling at everyone? I'd grab my lunchbox and thermos and tell him to fuck off & call the hall.

Try to force me to wear that dammed hardhat in the cab of the crane? Fuck you...I'm gone.

Can't smoke on the project? I'm outta here. Get someone else.

I've quit at the end of the day, at lunch, at the start of the shift, on Friday, on Monday, over the weekend and never even called in...
Some people call in sick...I called in quit.

Wow, I normally don't care enough to comment on such things, but...

You suck. :Q

yep. 🙂
I hated that job. I only got it cause I wanted free dipped cones.

I once had a job watching TV and logging every product placement (then I'd have to write questionnaires to see if our test audience spotted the placements). I would literally have to watch the same show multiple times, sometimes individual scenes - over and over again. I survived two days of training - two days of watching Charmed and One Tree Hill. The 3rd day was watching sports - I was to watch a baseball game and transcribe every sign/banner. Every mention of a product. I quit that day.. You can't pay me to watch baseball

Have seen plenty of folks not even survive one whole day. They didnt like it. And by "it" I mean work. Seen many people who were just not into regular work. Rather than tough it out and learn how to deal with it, they quit.
In fact I'd say in modern America theres a little too much of that going on these days. Its not a huge wonder the Mexicans are snatching up our domestic jobs and the Indians are getting our outsourced jobs. They complain less, work for a lower salary and fewer benefits, and generally show better results on the job.

And yet somehow, quite magically, America is still the number 1 manufacturer in the world. 😕
Number 1 how? By volume? Value in dollars? People employed?

I'm sure if we are the Mexicans have something to do with it.

If we are not, it has something to do with the 1 billion Chinese people slaving away for 100 hours a week.

In 2007 the U.S. had 24.7% of the world's manufacturing output (dollar value). The next highest was Japan at 15.5%. China has 11.4%.

Damn son... this is OT how did P&N sneak in here?!?!??

Was working at Kwik Kar, had light shadow of facial hair as I forgot to shave. Saturdays are our busiest, in the middle of our rush, was told to go home and shave and come back. Told him, "During this rush? Are you serious? Fuck that, I quit", when I left I was asked if I could pick up a guy a bottle of Gatorade, left grabbed it from down the street and came back. The boss came out with a smug look on his face and said, "So are you ready to discuss this?" I replied with , "No, Jeff asked me to pick him up some gatorade *hands the bottle to Jeff*" and I walked out. Guy tried to get me to come back, when I found it was on a Saturday-only basis I walked off again telling him to fuck himself once again. Ahhh to be 16 again.

I'm crushed. Please explain your heinous comment.

Based off of your post, you have a shitty attitude and, if it weren't for unions, I doubt you would have been able to maintain a decent job.

ROFL!! I have a great attitude, always get higher production levels than the company expects, have worked both union and non-union, depending on where I lived, and have only been fired from one job in 30+ years.

I don't however take any shit from anyone on a jobsite. Life is too fucking short to have to put up with anyone's bullshit...and for MOST of my career, jobs were plentiful enough that IF YOU'RE GOOD ENOUGH, finding work is never difficult...in fact, for much of my career, I only had to make one call and I was working somewhere within a couple of days tops.

People are great with their blanket ignorant statements aren't they?

Of course, you are the greatest worker someone could ask for. Bully for you. Based off of your post, you have a shitty attitude.

Do you know what "based off of" means? Do you know what a "blanket statement" is? I was making a statement "based off of" his post.

Damn...you got me. I have a shitty attitude. I don't owe any company any more than a day's work for a day's wages.

I hold ZERO allegiance to any company beyond the last paycheck.

I don't OWE any company any more notice that I'm quitting than they give when they lay me off. (end of shift...here's your checks, we're laying you off.)

I have ZERO reason to allow anyone to yell at me. You're not my wife, you're not my mom or dad...either talk to me like a man of STFU. Don't like that? Get my money. Keep yelling at me and we're gonna be rolling around in the mud, scrapping like a couple of kids.

Wouldn't it make more sense if your blanket statement was "based ON my post" rather than off of it? 😛
