LOL wow. As cool as it would be to live in a place like that, I'll pass.

At first I was thinking it was bad due to high chance of tsumami, the noticed the other side... either die by lava or by water. Whichever comes first. The good news is, looks like that volcano erupted recently so probably not due to set off for a long time.

Antarctica would be worse, or even the Arctic with the whole ice shelf coming off thing so you have no idea where your town will be in a week.

It may not be the safest location, but the land is fertile and supports life. Cities & towns has always been located where the land can support the population, such as flood plains, and volcanic valleys/bases.

And, nobody would know that that town disappeared! It is in the middle of nowhere and help would take way too long to get there.

It sounds like it's actually Inaccessible Island from the Wiki Page.

the town is edinburgh of the seven seas at the top. I think.

if you do googlemaps on tristan da cunha or mount olav, it giver you the same island as the op.

Too soon?

I came here expecting that to be the answer.

The current population is thought to have descended from 15 ancestors, eight males and seven females who arrived on the island at various times between 1816 and 1908

I need to see pictures of the locals.

No foreigner is allowed to buy land or settle there...

I say we bomb it just in case. We can put a bomb right in their volcano..
