Come on folks...we obviously don't know the whole story here...it's possible they did give the kid the X-box later...and only used the box for clothing as a gag...nothing wrong with that...

AND, it's possible the kid's been wrangling for an X-box but for whatever reason, fucked up badly (bad behavior or whatever) and they did this to make a point to him.

Either way, I don't have a problem with it...YES, if they did it out of mean-spiritedness, that's wrong, but for either of the reasons I listed above...nah.

Read the whole article. The family admits that the kid never got the 360.

My mom decides to buy my brother an Xbox 360 for christmas. We leave that night and return the next morning to find he has sneaked a look....just as my mom thought he would, this is the result...and yes he did get the game i will try to post the second video

Like I said, we don't know all the story...

IF the kid did sneak a peek at the presents, then he got what he deserved.

Any family that lets their kid look like a freak, has issues. I'm sure this xbox clip is just a small part of how fvcked up that family is.

yeah real winners. some kids just dont have a chance at life because of who their parents are.

haha, my parents did that to us all of the time, they would waste their time finding the damn box and toss some clothes in it.

I usually find myself agreeing with you, but I'm gonna have to disagree this time.

The story on the OP's link says that they confirmed the family never did give him a 360 and that's why they were trying to send him one.

I think what makes this terrible is that it's Christmas, and he's a little kid. To him, that's the equivalent of those dreams where you win the lotto and wake up to find it didn't happen, and his family is the one responsible for it. Then they laugh at him? Fuck that, they've scarred the kid emotionally.

My parents did the exact OPPOSITE thing for me, by putting a Genesis (it was used and my dad got it from a pawn shop, so they didn't have a box) inside of a box that was for some new (drinking) glasses they had bought. When I opened it I remember saying "Cool, new glasses" and wondering why my mom wouldn't just put it as a family gift or something, then going onto the next gift. My parents both kinda chuckled and told me I should open the box with glasses and when I saw what it was, it made it ten times better. 😎

Your parents = cool
His parents = not cool </ cool meter check>

We can only hope he remembers this when they are old and infirm and looking to him for help. They'll be pissing themselves saying "we loved youuuuu, don't lock me up in here..."

I still think that video was just a scam in order to get some naive wealthy geeks to pony up for this kid's XBox. Hell... I wouldn't be surprised if they got a few XBoxes out of this to sell on eBay!

Hmm... Maybe I should post of video of one my cousins looking pathetic because they got an iPhone box filled with socks for their birthday 🙂

thats what i thought too

me too

Wow... you can tell the Mom thought it was funny at first, then she went off regretting it, that's something she can never ever take back, no matter how many Xboxs or games or anything she buys that kid ever.

was I the only one that found it hilarious? I feel like if that happened to me, and I looked back on it, I'd laugh. But apparently I'm the only one.

yeah the same

I think that's mean, especially coming from his parents. I didn't find it in the least bit amusing. That's a good way to turn a kid into a pessimistic and bitter jerk.

If it's real that is.

If you goto the youtube video page, its because the kid opening the box snuck a peek at his presents before hand... so in order to show him, they replaced the 360 with clothes to teach him a lesson... the kid did get the 360 later.

Despite the fact his family told Jonathan multiple times in the video, "C'mon, you know we can't afford an Xbox!", the kid's shining example of an older brother (who uploaded the video) claims that they actually did get him the console, and that he'd eventually upload the video of the "real" unwrapping. He never did. Right.

They dont even know that these people have been properly contacted, it even says so in the follow up.

My thoughts exactly. The look on that poor kid's face...you can't do that, really. What a bunch of assh0les.

Parents clearly say 1 million times they couldn't afford it... Kid is probably a spoiled brat... he certainly came off that way... You can't have everything you want... Welcome to the real world...

Sure bet he enjoys having heat and dinner... god forbid his parents don't meet all of his demands...

More fun to make the person think they are getting a boring item then have it be something they wanted but never thought anyone would get for them. I got a rare CD for a friend, took forever to track one down through a used CD seller.

First I put a brick in the bottom of the box so the weight was off. He opened it, removed the brick, then found the CD case which was wrapped up. Opened it, saw the artwork for the rare CD he had wanted, opened it... and there was a CD-R inside. I did my best to look completely shocked and surprised, like I hadn't even thought to check the case to make sure it was the real thing.

Then after we all stood there in silence for a few seconds, I pulled out the real CD which was in the case for the CD-R, which was in my pocket.

came off that way? He didn't say a word, while the family kept laughing at him for 2 minutes

Yeah, really, where the hell did you get that impression from???????

That is rather cruel, but I'm not sure getting him the XBOX is the right response.

I don't see any way to give something just to him though, no matter what you do his dipshit family is going to benefit.

My brother's birthday gift before high school graduation was a fairly sizable stereo box full of clothes. For graduation, he got the stereo.
