worst OC'ing CPU ever?

I had a 3.0C D1 wouldn't go over 3.2, just a bad chip. Hell my 2.4C could do that on stock vcore and cooling:disgust: I got a 3.0C 30 Capper M0 stepping later that hit 3.75 at 1.6 vcore:thumbsup:

Palomino 1800+

Wouldnt go past 137 FSB due to lack of PCI/AGP lock and was multiplier locked. Nearly 0 overclocking potential. Even unlocked, it would probably only reach 1900+ or 2000+ at a push.

I had a K6(or II don't remember) 266MHz. Anyway I bought it OEM about a week before the mobo, and the mobo was delayed another week. I finally put it all together, and it wouldn't even do stock speed. Best I got was 250 out of it. The worst part of it is they wouldn't let me return it, because the 15 day DOA grace period was up.

My 2000+ Palomino wouldn't let me go above 145 fsb. Max overclock 8,7% (From 1667 to 1836). I managed to sell it online for 600 SEK (roughly 80 USD!!!) though, which was sweeeeet!!! 😀

Exact same for me. I had a KT333 board in the hopes of using that 166 RAM for O/C...doh. Now given to girlfriend, where it does a fine job pretending to be a Super Nintendo.

CPU: was never able to reliably overclock my P2-400.

GPU: i think i have to underclock my 9800 AIW NP to get rid of ridiculous artifacts

My previous CPU (Athlon XP 2700+) just plain wasn't stable at stock speeds, it would crash in under a minute while attempting 3dmark. I ended up just lowering the FSB to 133 and leaving it till I could disagnose the problem later. Unfortunately, I never got around to figuring out what the problem was, so its still sitting there underclocked by 20%. Maybe now that its not my primary computer I can fiddle around with it without fear of breaking it worse.

While not exactly "failure to overclock", I still have everyone beat.

My ocing experience:

P-120 @ 133 max....13mhz people.

P-166 @ 200 max....this was nice.

P-200 @ 225...sad.

P2-233 @ 266 max....eh

Celeron 333 @ 416...yuck, I missed the C300@450 bandwagon.

Celeron2 566@850...nice %50, very impressive---but common.

Athlon Tbird Socket A 750@950...I was determined to hit 1GHZ but never could. Sad.

Athlon Tbird Socket A 1.2GHZ @ 1.4GHZ...Barely...

Current; Athlon Tbred Socket A handpicked (when these were new) Tbred B 1.5V 1700+, 1.466GHZ @ 2.3GHZ on air @ 1.75v...63% I believe.

Next? A64/Sempron @ something > 2.5GHZ

All my Dell systems 😛

i think it would be Athlon XP 2100+ Tbred B...would go past 2500+ speeds at extreme voltages when on average, they were hitting ~2800+ speeds at default.

My first ever OC attempt. I OC'ed an AMD k6-2 350 to 400. Damn thing melted my board. Had to clean the goop out of my pc 😛

All of the first K6 cpus I tried out years ago. None would overclock at all. Early on, I think AMD the the overclocking at the factory for you.😉
