Total shens. Everyone likes SPR and Braveheart. And 300 was exactly what it was supposed to be, a movie version of a graphic novel. Bitching about 300 is like bitching about paying for a Kate Hudson movie because they talked about their feelings and cried the whole film.

First of all, get a clue on the definition of shenanigans. Or are you implying that I am lying?

Second, you are obviously wrong about SPR and Braveheart. I am included in everybody, and I revile them both. I assure you I loathe them.

Third, just because a film "is what it is supposed to be", does not make it in any way shape or form, good.

Wonder why Saving Private Ryan ends up on my worst films of all time list? It's mostly due to great disappointment. SPR has amazing cinematography, amazing sound (perhaps the most accurate and visceral swallow you whole sound in any film ever), quality editing, PERFECT sets and costumes, and some spectacular performances, and even some good dialogue, but I'll be damned if I could sit through a 3 hour movie in which the plot is so improbable, the scenario so false and utterly unimaginative, that it won't shove me right out of the dreamscape I am supposed to be in. What a horrible and unengaging story! Doubly so because of the ham-handed let's tug on their heartstrings approach Spielberg took with the morality play. I can't stand to have my patriotism used against me in such a shameful way. I sat through 3/4 of that movie in pure contempt. This illustrates exactly why writing is so above and beyond any other category on my list.

I can buy this. However, I fail to see how the improbable storyline of Saving Private Ryan could completely nullify the other good qualities of the film that you acknowledged, even if you place such strong emphasis on writing in your judgment. Or, at least, that it could damage your opinion of it so much that it ends up on your worst movies ever list.

I don't doubt that you dislike the movie, but this along with the other highly regarded movies on your list makes me wonder if you're kind of hamming it up to get a strong reaction out of people. Have you never been exposed to something truly bad, that utterly fails to satisfy even one of your criteria? Because I know I sure have, and I'm fairly selective about what I go see.

SPR is like owning a Land Rover, enjoyable in so many ways, except stuck in the shop all the time, which makes it suck worse than if it were almost any lesser vehicle. It's the disappointment that makes it so unnerving.

Films for which I did not have such high expectations, but were bad on almost every front bother me far less, e.g. Anchorman. Films which have good writing and are bad in almost every other way can be quite good, e.g. Clerks.

I don't put those films on my list to evoke a response; I put them there because they have evoked the response of disgust in me and that is why I remember them for such occasions.

UH? That movie is all sorts of awesome!😕

idk... I love Meryl Streep, I love musicals, and I don't hate Abba, but I thought that movie sucked.

how it became like the top grossing movie of all time or something in England blows my mind a little bit.

England is full of dennilflosses.😛

I wasn't implying you were lying. I was saying it. Nobody takes a minor plot hole from an otherwise perfect movie and says that they now loathe the entire thing. Dramatize much?

The director of 300 did a superb job in bringing the look and feel of the original material to the screen. It wasn't historically accurate, but neither was the material it was based on. If you paid for it and didn't like it, then you obviously went into it completely ignorant of what you were paying for.

What if you paid for it only expecting to be entertained and nothing more, and still walked out dissapointed?

Epic Movie.... so bad they should make a parody of it.

Supernova was just nasty and hard to follow when you're half asleep.

When you say "shens" you are implying some sort of deception is going on, so you are either implying I am lying, or you did not know the definition of shenanigans. However, I am happy to rescue you from its misuse. Carry on.

As for SPR... "Minor plot hole"!?!? The ENTIRE FILM is based on this minor plot hole. WOW! What I fail to understand is how after given a perfectly rational explanation as to exactly why I do not like SPR (or any film I don't care for) you continue to argue with my completely valid opinion. Are you trying to convince me to like it? Does your emotional well being hinge on my taste in movies?

I don't care which movies you like. I'm just saying you are lying about SPR, and threw it on your list to get a rise out of people and/or to make yourself seem cool and different.

I called it a minor plot hole because it was originally based on a true story. So there is some basis for the premise in real life. Apparently you consider real life to be a major plot hole.

In summary, I call shens on your including it on the list as well as your completely bogus reasoning.

Quote fail.

As an FYI:

IMPLY
m·ply
/?m'pla?/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [im-plahy] Show IPA
Use imply in a Sentence
?verb (used with object), -plied, -ply·ing.
1. to indicate or suggest without being explicitly stated: His words implied a lack of faith.

I plainly stated you were lying. Therefore I wasn't implying it. Now I'm loling! 🙂

it's okay, the poster is just trying to be an attention whore

Doom - I remember getting drunk and going to see with co-workers. The movie was so bad that half the co-workers left after about a half hour to continue drinking until the movie was done.

Actually I would have to agree, this is by far the worst movie I've ever seen at the movies. I felt financially raped.
