Sorry man, if you think that's acceptable for an interview.... to the burger flipper you go.

Right about now someone on ATOT is typing:

Topic Title: Mud-splattered schmuck I interviewed today
Topic Summary: Really??? A bj joke?

Was there a written portion of the interview ;)

The fact that such a story would immediately pop into your head...man... /shakes head/

If you told the truth that you tripped on their property, maybe they would have hired you for fear of a lawsuit;).

What's sad is how quickly your mind conceived of fellating a guy as an excuse.

I don't think I'd ever share that story with anyone.

Sorry, I had to go out for a bit right after I posted so I wasn't able to follow the thread as well as I'd have liked.

To answer the "WTF were you thinking?!?!?" question I'll say this. I was rather upset about my pants at the time and I think that it is quite obvious that I was not thinking clearly at all, I get rather nervous at interviews and was thrown off my game. It was extremely inappropriate and not how I ever though I would conduct myself in a professional setting. I am ashamed and embarrassed, as I should be. I've written a letter of apology to the company and hope to put this past me.

i'm sorry to hear that man.

for what it's worth, i had an amazing interview last week but still didn't get the job. i thought i had it all sealed up but the chips did not fall my way.

good luck to you in your future interviews.

Thanks for the words of support, the tech job market isn't easy to begin with and with the economy taking a dive it's only getting worse.

Spelling has never been my strength ;) thank god for spell check (which I didn't use as I was in a hurry when I posted)

As to why it popped in to my head the way it did I honestly couldn't tell you, I was embarrassed to be walking in to an interview with mud on my pants. I was quite agitated about it actually. I understand that stuff happens from time to time and you've got to go with the flow but that wasn't the state of mind I was in. I guess it was a vain extremely poor attempt to re-direct the attention from my muddy trousers.

I have blurted out some crazy shit when I was a bit tense before, but if you're serious you did that, I would buy you a beer. Awesome story, and even better with you explaining it really happened like that. Hilarious that's the first thing that popped into your head. Bummer you didn't get the job, but it's almost worth it to have a story this good. Even if people don't believe it it's funny as hell.

I'm glad I could provide humor to some of you :) I'm sure I'll laugh about it after I'm done beating myself up for utter stupidity.

I'm all about free beer :D If we ever have a huge AT gathering and we're both there I'll hold you to it...

Although one does have to consider, if this is what I am capable of sober WTF am I going to do when I'm plastered...It could be entertaining or incarcerating...Or i could end up giving head to some guy in a parking lot so that the designated driver who is sober can get a parking space :Q

Given my penchant for casual swearing and my inability to take anything seriously, I'm confident I'll never be a hiring manager anywhere. But if I was, I would give preferential treatment to candidates who told "inappropriate" jokes during the interview. If the entire interview passed without a dirty joke, I would say, "Thank you very much for your time. And by the way, what the fuck, man? I mean, I was throwing you some easy set-ups and you didn't bite at one of them! 'Tell me about your previous positions?' How could you miss that?! I'm sorry, you're just not the type of candidate we're looking for. Security is already on their way, I suggest you start running."

Humor is serious business.
