Anybody in Bangalore: they speak <5 words of English, and are too busy feeding rats and wondering why they don't go away to learn how to do their job. Then they call you, and stubbornly maintain the fantasy that their lack of knowledge/errors are a result of a problem with the system, and expect you to fix it.

Case in point: today, one of our tata geniuses with his SSO beginning with 5 calls me because he can't su - rcs on one of our KEON boxes. He has the access routes to the host and the user, but he said it was prompting him for the password (shouldn't happen in KEON). I check the logs, and he's already the user he's trying to su - to. MORON (this person is a DBA, so not technically IT, but he's tasked with supporting the infrasturcture of the largest company in the world).

Other than that, I nominate myself. If users piss me off, I set their domain passwords to force a change at the next login (among other harmless, but annoying things).

Other than me and anybody in India, it would be CompuCom, they seem to have a maximum IQ for their employees (and it's a very low bar).

Me.

I wouldn't say you're the worst, you're just extremely LAZY, which is bad for being in IT.

No its really GOOD, because that means we do it right the first time so we dont have to fsck with it anymore

sometimes you dont' have time to deal with fixing someone's computer. It should be everyone else's fault for not backing up their files, or you can have a file server where workers should store their files. Once something is wrong with a worker's personal computer, just re-image it.

If he did that, he was wasting time. Now, if he had a Ghost image, and slapped it on there, he was being effective. I can Ghost a PC in 15 minutes and have it ready to roll. Rather than dick around on some strange problem for hours, I spend 15 minutes and KNOW it's going to work when I'm done, and I won't need to return until "Joe User" farks it up again.

You can ghost a computer in 15 min? Uhm... you back up their data first, right? I don't know how you could possibly ghost a computer AND back up their data to one of your servers in less than 15 min (unless you have their data on a separate partition, in which case go you)

Everyone at our office has storage on a large NAS. No need to keep anything on your own PC -- hence everyone is educated to NEVER store anything important on their own PC.

That's the best way - get users to store on the network and then any problem can usually be resolved pretty quickly

Our IT is really stupid some times. He Tried To put an AMD 64 3000 chip in an Intel brand 915 mobo that was my old office computer. I asked if he was crazy He said that Intel makes a better mobo so he will use it and told me to leave because he knew what he was doing. I think he broke off some pins to get it to fit. When I came back he was puzzled why it would not boot and he decided to call Intel customer support for help. I can only imagine what the Intel rep was going to say to him.
