I thought the same thing when I first saw it in the theater. It felt like a big "F U" from the Director, but after doing some research the website explains it.

Planet Of The Apes -->About The Movie --> Ape Insight --> Launch Research Project.

I guesss that makes sense??? But they could of explained a bit more... and I still think the ending sucked, I want a happy ending!

Leo should of killed damn Thade. Stupid monkey.

Well that explains it now, but i still think it is stupid.

hmmm... a lot of the endings you guys say are bad, I think are good.

Perfect Storm: great ending (not saying it was good that they died). It really moved me. I was saying to myself over and over "please don't let them die", even though I knew they would. I kept on thinking about it for awhile after the movie. I think that is a mark of a good movie.

Planet of the Apes: I like surprise endings. It also makes you think a little bit more. What if apes did rule the planet? And if you didn't have that ending, what kind would you want? The good guy coming home and everything being happily ever after? Talk about cliche.

AI: A speilburg ending I guess. This one, I would have liked to see end when the boy jumped in the water. I thought for sure the credits would start rolling. That would have been a good ending. I was astonished when it kept on going. Oh well. Still liked the movie though.

Well I thought Pearl Harbor had a good ending.... the movie was just too long...
and Congo I personally thought was a good movie, it just got too much hype.

But I hated the Lost World's ending.... the whole city/godzilla part. But up until then was aewsome
and I hated the whole never ending story.

I'd have to say the most depressing ending is from American History X. After watching that movie for the first time, me and my friend sat in silence for about an hour just thinking about it. Needless to say, i was truly :Q

<< Worst ending for a movie?

I'd have to say The Ninth Gate with Johnny Depp. Till now, I dont get what happened. :disgust:

He figured out that the Nine Gates of the Kingdom of Shadows were actual acts, not just pieces of paper...so he went to hell, I guess. I don't know...the movie was kind of silly (although I still kind of liked it)....the book, however was excellent. They really castrated it for the movie though. It's really based on the writings of Alexandre Dumas, and all the Satanic stuff is just kind of a secondary plot. The 2 plots weave in and out throughout the book, making it a really cool read. BTW, the book is called The Club Dumas, not The Ninth Gate

I would like some of whatever it was you were smoking during that movie.

Legends of the Fall. Horrible in all respects, including the ending. Although I liked it that no one got what they wanted.

Man, I'm surprised that there are this many posts and nobody's mentioned the movie with the most bucked up ending ever...

Magnolia

I mean, 2 hours into the movie I finally start to piece things together and comprehend what's going on when....frogs??!!

The original Twelve Angry Men was a horrible ending. The rest of the movie was great, but it was almost as if the director didn't know how to end it, so he told Peter Fonda and the little old guy to make something up for one take. Bleh.

The ending to Monty Python and the Holy Grail was a bit of a letdown, yeah, except it fits completely with their style of humor.

Want to know why noone mentioned "Magnolia"? It's because noone here was dumb enough to see a movie with the name "Magnolia". To further this thought, the movie "Beaches" may be the greatest movie ever made, but I will never know....

Hmm, i couldn't find that at the website... could you cut and paste it if possible or a direct link?

?? Um...but you do realize that this movie stars Tom Cruise, Julianne Moore, William H. Macy, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and a whole slew of other famous actors and earned Cruise an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor. If that doesn't get you to watch a movie, ok...

<< I'll second "Eyes Wide Shut"... >>

No, it is the worst movie ever, the ending or simply, that it ended was the best thing about it and a great relief to me.

The worst ending is in Episode 1, kid blows up warship by hitting the most vulnerable spot, which happens to be in the landing deck. Like anybody would put the most vulnerable spot in a landing deck where damaged fighters have to land.

But even more than that, Jar-Jar is still alive at the end.

<< The Abyss...The entire movie was great until that Gay ending. >>

ditto that. What a waste of a good movie. They even tried to re-do the ending and it still didn't help.

the original ransom. after crying his eyes out the father goes outside and the kid runs from the bushes. then the movie ends. i like the mel gibson remake a lot better.

as for sphere, thats the same ending as the book, which i thought was dumb. if they were all powerful they should have brought the guys they killed back to life, then erased everything. (of course i can't figure out why star trek doesn't use the transporter to make a million copies of data and send him off to explore or whatnot)

and magnolia, the frogs actually did happen once. maybe not quite so many of them, but they did rain from the sky.
